Chapter 18I descended the staircase to the dining room where the family awaited. I watched Mama as she read aloud from a letter she'd received from Katya. “…I have seen where Kafka is buried, such a forlorn, isolated place. When the days are gloomy, Prague can be the most forbidding city but on the whole it radiates elegance and beauty. I spend my days at the university buried in my studies. There is so much detail, so much to learn. After classes, I return to my room and study more in the evenings, often until midnight or later. Classes begin again at eight o'clock.
