Chapter 39Beulah Robinson sat up in the cot holding a cup of tea. Her face remained pinched but the colour looked better, not so sallow. Some brightness had returned to her eyes. “Man, Mr. G, sounded like you really loved that woman.” I nodded. “She was extraordinary. She exceeded me in every way. We were never equals. She had moved beyond me.” “But you left her.” I sighed. “Yes, I did.” “Whatever happened to her?” “I never found out. So I don't know what became of Olga.” “Didn't you ever wonder?” “Only all the time. But, times were different.
