Chapter 24I awoke early and lay in bed thinking. Jerzy snored away. He muttered and moaned in his sleep as if talking to somebody, making conversation within the dream he was having. The time would click by slowly until I met Maria at one o'clock. I hoped I could concentrate on the match this morning. I tried to see her face, hear her voice. Each had faded over time.
