Chapter 4 I had my laptop on the kitchen table, checking my email, when Brendan came in. To say he looked rough was rather an understatement. I’d seen guys look more chipper with massive hangovers. I’d heard the shower about half an hour ago. “It’s quarter to noon,” he said. “Yes. I made coffee about an hour ago. The pot’s still on.” He nodded and poured himself a cup before settling in a chair across the table from me. “I’m guessing you notified somebody you weren’t coming in today?” “Yes.” I looked him over.
