The sun had barely risen over the palace courtyard, but the training grounds were already alive with energy. Astrid had told Caspian a day before that she would like to train with his sisters since they were skilled warriors too and he agreed. She stood in the center, feeling the morning breeze on her skin, nerves mixed with excitement. Caspian’s sisters, Mira, Elara, and Lyria circulated around her, each radiating strength, confidence, and the presence of wolves fully in tune with their human forms.
Mira stepped forward first, her gaze sharp but encouraging. “Feet shoulder-width apart,” she instructed. “Balance is everything. If you can’t hold your own center, you’ll fall no matter how strong you are.”
Astrid adjusted her stance, letting her knees bend slightly, palms open defensively. “Like this?”
“Yes,” Mira confirmed, a small nod. “Now anticipate, don’t react. Let your wolf guide your instincts, but keep your mind clear.”
Elara moved next, circling Astrid with quick, precise movements. “Don’t just block, flow with the strike. Your opponent’s energy is part of yours. Merge it, redirect it.”
Astrid tried again, her movements smoother, each parry and pivot guided by the subtle hum of her wolf’s instincts. She felt her bond with Caspian reinforce her focus, the warmth of his presence lingering even at a distance.
Lyria added agility drills, forcing Astrid to pivot, duck, and strike with speed. “Think beyond the fight,” Lyria said. “Anticipate the rhythm. If your mind is rigid, your body will fail.”
Sweat dripped down Astrid’s brow, her muscles ached pleasantly, but a thrill ran through her veins. Each touch, each correction, each demonstration reinforced her confidence and her connection to the pack.
By mid-morning, they gathered under the shade of an oak tree, breathing heavily but smiling. Mira leaned against the trunk, arms crossed. “You’ve learned the basics. Next session, we add more complexity.”
Elara smiled warmly. “You’re strong, Luna. I can feel your wolf getting stronger with each movement.”
Lyria nudged her playfully. “And don’t forget—strength isn’t just about fighting. It’s about trust, intuition, and presence. You already have all three.”
Astrid exhaled, feeling a swell of pride and camaraderie. “Thank you. I… I feel stronger than I ever imagined.”
The conversation naturally shifted. Mira leaned forward, a teasing glint in her eyes. “Now tell us about your mate. Caspian, he’s our brother and the Lycan king , but what is he like with you?”
Astrid’s cheeks warmed slightly. “He… makes me feel safe, completely. Respected. Loved. Our bond, mmm it’s more than instinct or power. It’s connection, trust, and… magic. Everything flows between us, heart, wolf, and soul.”
Elara nodded knowingly. “That’s how it should be. Strong, protective, but also tender. That’s the kind of Alpha a Luna needs.”
Lyria tilted her head, eyes curious. “And he’s yours, yes?”
Astrid smiled, meeting Caspian’s proud gaze from across the training grounds. “Completely. And I trust him with everything. Just as I feel the pack and you sisters support me.”
Mira exchanged a glance with her sisters, lips curling. “Then you’re in good hands, Luna. But remember, a Luna grows stronger not only with her mate but with her sisters at her side.”
Caspian moved closer and Astrid reached for Caspian’s hand, feeling his pulse beneath her fingers. “And I have the best sisters and teachers.”
Elara grinned. “Good. Tomorrow, we push harder. You’ll fight like one of us and alongside your mate, you’ll become unstoppable.”
Lyria added with a smirk, “And maybe teach him a few moves too.”
The laughter carried across the training grounds, mingling with the sounds of shifting leaves and the faint hum of their wolves’ energy. Astrid felt a deep sense of belonging. Strength, trust, love, and sisterhood intertwined in a way that promised not just power, but unity and together, she and Caspian would lead their pack into any challenge.
Later that evening, after the sun had dipped below the horizon, Caspian and Astrid walked through the palace gardens, the warm glow of lanterns casting long shadows across the cobblestone path. The air was calm, scented faintly with jasmine and pine.
Caspian glanced at her, a teasing smirk tugging at his lips. “So… what were you and my sisters talking about today?” His hand brushed hers lightly, playful yet protective.
Astrid laughed softly, trying to hide a hint of blush. “Why? Are you worried I’m plotting against you?”
He chuckled, though his amber eyes shone with curiosity. “I’m just curious. You all seemed… very animated.”
Astrid shook her head, smiling, enjoying the small moment of levity. “We talked about training, of course. How to improve my fighting, my balance, my wolf connection, things like that.”
Caspian arched a brow, clearly unconvinced. “Just that?”
She laughed, leaning slightly into him. “Yes, really. Though, they were asking about you too.”
He stopped walking, his eyes locking onto hers, intrigued. “About me?”
“Yes,” Astrid admitted softly, a smile playing on her lips. “About how you are with me. How I feel about you. They wanted to make sure I’m happy and safe, and that our bond is strong.”
Caspian’s expression softened, pride and affection evident in every line of his face. He reached out, cupping her cheek gently. “They’re not wrong to care. And hearing it from you?” He paused, thumb brushing over her skin. “It makes me feel even more protective and proud.”
Astrid smiled, her wolf stirring beneath the surface, responding to the warmth of his presence. “I’m happy, Caspian. Truly. I’ve never felt more connected. To you, to the pack, to everything.”
He pressed his forehead to hers, letting the moment linger. “Good,” he murmured. “Because you’ll always have me and them by your side.”
Astrid nodded, feeling the depth of trust and love flowing between them. “And I’ll always have you. That’s the bond they were talking about.”
Caspian chuckled softly, wrapping his arm around her waist. “Good. But just so you know, next time, you tell me every detail. No secrets.”
Astrid laughed, leaning into him as they continued down the lantern-lit path. “Fine. I promise.”
And as they walked together, Alpha and Luna, mate and mate, the bond between them hummed quietly it was strong, unbreakable, and full of the unspoken love that had become the heart of their pack.
