Chapter 2

QUINN

My anger exploded. "Who the hell do you think you are? Kind? Are you by any chance referring to me?"

The man looked taken aback for a slight second, but it was soon gone. Now, he had an amused look on his face. He was saying something but Dad's voice drowned him.

"Alpha Xavier, please forgive my daughter's unbridled tongue. She's a bit sick," Dad explained in the calmest voice I had ever heard him use.

I scoffed derisively. Oh, Moon Goddess help me. I might break some bones today, I thought.

"Is this some sort of joke? Dad, are you trying to use me to settle your bills again?"

"No, I'm not doing that!" His voice was terse. "Give me a minute to think here!"

"Alpha Kale, there's no need for thinking. If you pay with your daughter here, I will write off all the debts you owe my pack!"

Dad wasn't even considering it. "No, Alpha Xavier. I'm sorry, but I can't do that. My daughter… she can't be in your pack. She needs someone to protect her right now."

My heart was beating frantically in my chest as I listened to their conversation. Even if I didn't agree to this, Dad would still marry me off to this old man all in the name of protection.

Wouldn’t it be better to go with this rude Alpha Xavier who was at least young and wasn’t in any way trying to get married to me?

But why was he so interested in taking me with him? No way! Was he planning to make me his… I quickly discarded the thought as soon as it came. That couldn't be.

"Alpha Kale, I don't have the luxury of time to wait till you come to a decision. If you don't make your decision within a minute, I'll be forced to make you pay back your debt in some other way."

"I'll do it!" I said and the silence that followed my words was almost deafening.

The three men turned their surprised gazes at me. I didn't back down as I locked my eyes with Alpha Xavier. "I'll do it," I repeated. "I'm doing this for my pack but if you dare step foot here to disturb my dad again, I'll…” I trailed off, lost for what to say.

He burst into laughter immediately. "Alpha Kale, your daughter is quite feisty, I must say. I like that. You did a good job of raising her."

Dad ignored his words as he enveloped me in a tight embrace. "I'm sorry. I've been a bad father to you. I'm sorry I'm so helpless right now and can't even stop this."

"Your time's up. We have to leave now or you might just spend the night on the road with me,” Alpha Xavier drawled.

There was something about the way he said it that made it sound a bit sexually suggestive. Spend the night with him? He must be joking!

But why did my blood boil at such flirtatious words? What the hell was wrong with me?

"Never show anyone your powers!" Dad whispered in a desperate tone.

I frowned. "What are you talking about, Dad?"

Before he could say anything, a hand pulled me out of his embrace and whisked me off my feet and into their arms. I looked up to see Alpha Xavier smiling at me. His chest was sturdy, evidence that he worked out.

As he walked towards his car, my hands suddenly itched to run along his chest and feel the smoothness of his skin. All of a sudden, I saw his head descend slowly towards mine and my mind became blank.

What was he doing? Was he trying to kiss me?

I squeezed my eyes shut in fright as I bit into my lower lip. His voice snapped my eyes back open.

"Careful, little princess. If you keep on doing that, I might do something unimaginable,” he purred against my ears and I felt a chill ripple through my spine.

I quickly wriggled out of his arms, steadied my weight on my legs, and made a run for his car. Just when I thought he was going to drive, he joined me in the back seat and closed the door.

"You aren't gonna drive?" I asked, not daring to look him in the eye.

I felt him shift closer to me as he spoke. "The car's on auto drive,” he said in a husky voice.

The car kicked into life almost immediately and my mind went back to Dad's words. What did he mean by powers? Did I have one? I really wanted an answer to the question.

"What's going on in your mind, little princess?"

My skin turned red when his breath fell on my neck, and I had to control the urge to shiver. Why was this man making me feel this way? It was probably because I had never had time to stay close with the opposite gender all my life and now, lust was angrily beating me over the head.

"Do I have that much effect on you that you can't even look me in the eye?" he suddenly questioned.

I swallowed hard in my throat as my brain went on a frantic search of what to say. Just as I was about to utter something that would have sounded stupid, the car's tires screeched to a halt and a voice sounded from the speaker.

"You have reached your destination."

I felt a wave of relief wash over me as I hurried out of the car and passed through a huge gate. I was immediately surprised by the beauty of my surroundings. Just like the Alpha of the pack, the Red Mountain pack was a lovely sight to behold. In fact, it looked just like something out of a book.

"You can gawk all you want, little Princess. A maid will be assigned to take you to your room shortly."

Without waiting for my reaction, he sauntered inside. I continued admiring the buildings sprawled out inside the compound. They all screamed of opulence. I wandered further till I lost my way.

Wait a minute! This could be my opportunity to escape. The environment was serene and no one was passing by.

Taking the initiative, I rounded a corner and made to climb over a wall when a voice suddenly stopped me. I instantly froze like a deer caught in the headlights.

"Not so smart huh, little thief?" The voice was cold, and I shivered slightly from its effect.

I turned to look at the face of the speaker. Realizing it was Alpha Xavier, I couldn't help but scoff. "Thief? Oh, that's so rich coming from someone who literally stole me from my father. Why are you everywhere? You told me I could look around and now you're stalking me? Your work as an Alpha must be little."

He looked taken aback for a split second, but a look of amusement soon registered on his face. "Have we met before? Why are you speaking to your Alpha so casually? How did you manage to enter the royal villa?"

I frowned in confusion. Was he out of his mind? What the hell was he on about?

"Wait a minute, do you have momentary memory loss or some…”

Before I could complete my statement, he snagged at my wrist and pulled me into his arms so tightly that I forgot how to breathe.

"You... Why do you smell so appetizing?" he asked softly.

My mind emptied when my eyes fell on his hard-muscled chest and I realized that he was shirtless. Again, I had to check the urge to run my hands down the smooth ridge of his muscles. I swallowed hard in my throat as my p***y began throbbing at the unholy images that were forming in my mind.

I squeezed my eyes shut to block the images out but they soon fluttered open when I felt his hands at my rear. My gaze met his and I didn’t fail to discern the flicker of raw lust evident in his eyes.

Why was he giving me that look like I was some feast he wanted to devour? Was this why he brought me here? Oh, Moon Goddess, help me. Why couldn't I just control myself?

"What are you doing?" I managed to mumble in a voice that sounded nothing like mine.

"Nothing you won't like!" he whispered into my ears.

His voice in my ear made my blood flash hot as I felt spikes of desire shoot into my veins. My body was tingling in anticipation, and the feeling was like nothing I had ever felt before.

He snaked his hands into my blouse, unclasped my bra and my breasts sprang free, emancipated and dark-ringed. He raised my blouse, just enough for him to lower his head onto my breast. Then he took my n****e into his hot mouth, his tongue twirling around and teasing me.

My body quivered with helpless pleasure as my hands subconsciously snaked into his trousers. My hand found its bulging destination and began stroking his member.

"What the heck is going on?"

The familiar voice almost had me jumping out of my skin as I quickly pulled down my clothes. Air snapped out of my body the moment I laid my eyes on the intruder. There he was fuming like an angry tiger.
