I knew Adan said he would deal with the both of us, but I never thought he meant those words literally. The entire car ride back to the mansion was filled with tension I could cut with a knife. It was the first time since her arrival did I see Topaz nervous. She constantly flexed her hand while chewing the inside of her cheek. The fact that I wanted to comfort her made me wonder if I was crazy as to not to be scared about what was about to happen. Topaz knew Adan better than I did and if she was scared right now, then I should take the hint and be worried as well. But no matter how hard I tried I couldn’t find an ounce of worry inside me.
