2. Farewell gift

1106 Words
When I came back to the main hall Atri was already gone and Nyx was standing in a circle of her admirers while smiling like nothing happpened so I knew that I had to find my sister immediately. I looked for her almost everywhere but I couldn’t find her. Tired and worried I came back to my room and saw her sitting on my bed and crying. “I was looking for you, sis!” I said and when I noticed that she was crying all her eyes off I knew that I should have never left her with our mother because I never saw her so sad in my entire life. I gave her a deep hug and kissed her on her puffed eyes just to stop her tears. I knew that it’s better not to ask what exactly happened. Atri was full of emotions but she didn’t like to show or speak with anybody, including us, about them. That’s the reason why I found her hiding here in my place. So no one could see how she truly felt. That’s why I said nothing only have hugged her tight and for a while we both were lost in our thoughts. Suddenly she told me with a big smile: ”I prepared everything for you. You should never suffer because of money so I hope you will enjoy it, but...” “I know. I will miss you too Atri. Both of you.” It melted my heart knowing that she was thinking on me. She was the best of us, so caring and heart warming. “You know that I never cared about things like power, money or poverty, but thank you. I will be back soon.” I gently pet her long white hair. She was quite opposite of me. Pale as our mother with long white hair, crystal blue eyes with yelow sparkles. She was prettiest one but unpredictable and little bit crazy. I never felt jealous of her because she was our better half. She was the only one who was able to stop me and Lach when we were too cruel or merciless. On other hand our youngest one Lach was like fairy changling. She had red flame hair, moss green eyes and peach blossom skin. She was sly, felonious and treacherous. And me? I am mostly like our father. I have dark night hair, dark midnight blue eyes and dark chocolate skin. It was nothing special on me just the fact that I am one of the three Goddesses of Fate known as Moirai. Our role was to ensure that every being, mortal and divine, lived out their destiny as it was assigned to them by the laws of the universe. We were literaly above the gods and goddesses and each of us had special powers. Atropos was middle one and we called her Arti. She was the cutter of the thread of life. She chose the manner of each person's death; and when their time came, she cut their life-thread with shears. She could also create, influence and change mood and feelings. Lachesis was the youngest one and we called her Lach. She measured the thread of life allotted to each person with her measuring rod and she was also known for her mind-reading skill and I Clotho was the eldest one. My sisters used to call me Clo and I spun the thread of life from my distaff onto my spindle and I could see the true nature of one’s heart. I was known as heartless and cruellest one so everyone were too scared to be too close to me so I had no friends. Most of the time I wanted to be alone and my sisters accepted it however they never understood why I am avoiding everyone. It’s just too terrible to see the truth in the hearts and especialy truth in gods and goddesses with their secret desires, hatreds, lonelinesses. It’s possible to change your mind or mood or feelings but it is impossible to willingly change your heart and that’s why my sisters never understood my necessity to be alone. “There you are.” Lach was peaking at us behind the door totally unsure on how to react. It was rare for me to express any feelings to them and now she saw me hugging Atri and gently petting her hair. I never did that before because no one should see that we carred for each other. No one should know how strong our bond was. That was the first lesson our mother thought us. Fate can never be manipulated therefore we were forced to follow two rules: 1. Never fall in love 2. Never show your feelings First rule was easy to follow because we were goddesses of fate so it was easy to control our love life in the way that we never found our true mates, but the second one was problematic. Both my sisters were emphatic and that´s the reason why I never hugged them or showed any emotion. I knew that they thought that I was cold blooded but that was the only way to protect them. “Come” I told her with gentle smile and we ended up with a big sister hug for the first time in our lifes. But I felt that now I needed to hug them and say how precious they were to me. “I love you more than anything else and now it’s almost the time. So please behave and don’t make me worry.” I whispered to their hair and hoped that they heard that. Lach abruptly stepped back and turned me around. She put a gorgeous necklace on my neck and when she saw how surprised I was she told me: “This is the necklace of eden a farewell gift from us. It contains drop of a blood of each of us and if your life or our will be in danger we will inmediately know it. It was also enchanted so that no one will be able to detect the magic in it so don’t worry. For everyone it will be just a beautiful necklace.” They saw how delighted I was and that my tears could fall every second so they better gave me one last hug. We all felt that it is already time so I looked at my sisters one last time and started slowly to vanish.
