7. Dean’s office

I heard someone with a firm voice, probably dean's, calling us inside. Eli went first so I couldn’t see who was inside because of her.

“Good Morning dean, I..” she started to speak but she was almost immediately interrupted by dean.

“I know miss Donnoven, thank you very much for your effort. Miss Donnoven could you please let us for a moment with Miss Midnight alone. We need to discuss her late arrival as well as her conditions of staying at the Moon's academy.” I heard the voice said.

“Yes dean, of course.” she said to dean and she stepped aside.

As soon as Eli stepped aside I finally saw our dean and I couldn’t believe my own eyes.

What the hell was going on? I was startled with a shock when I saw who was so called dean in this academy.

Maybe I shrieked out a little bit because Eli turned to me and looked at me surprised and confused at the same time. I knew that I had to explain my behavior but for a second I couldn’t think at all. I saw someone who should be long time dead so my mind was totally blank for a moment. When I was able to think again I almost said my thoughts loud but in the last second I bit my lips to say nothing.

No f......g way! It can not be true! What the hell is going on! I had so many questions but the worst thing was that I almost disclosed that I knew more than I should. But how could I stay so calm in front of a person who I saw died long time ago? I saw that his life-thread was cut with shears, when Theseus slitted his throat, but still he was standing right there and was definitely not dead.

What could it mean? How was it even possible that I saw a living Minotaur in front of me and the most important thing was to find out on how it was even possible that neither me or my sister couldn’t have seen him to be alive. I had many question for him and every second was harder for me to say nothing.

He saw that I was struggling with my curiosity and he gave me a sign to say nothing, because Eli was still there and she was still waiting for my explanation. So I looked at Eli and said first thing that came to my mind:

“Sorry Eli, I just remembered that I totally forgot to call my mother and she will be freaking out that something happened to me. I promised her that I let her know as soon as I come here and I haven’t done that so far so she will definitely be yelling at me. And you know she was totally against this idea to study here so I told her that I will call her every day just to reassure her that everything is all right.”

She smiled at me brightly and I knew that the situation was saved.

“I totally understand. My mother is annoying too so I know really good what you meant.” said El to me and when she winked at me I knew that she already forgot that I shrieked before.

“Miss Donoven, now I need to speak with Miss Midnight alone. She will definitely find you as soon as we are done, or am I wrong?!” asked Minotaur.

Eli looked at me and I knew that she wanted to be sure that I would be fine so I said:

“Yes I will be ok and I will find you soon.” I said to Eli to reassure her that she could let me be here with dean alone.

“Ok I am leaving now little but I will be close. I want be sure that you will find me after you are done.” she said and was about to leave when she suddenly stopped and said over her shoulder:

“Eh and don’t forget to mention what happened in the morning in the trainings hall.” I opened my mouth to say that this is not going to happen because I didn’t want anybody to be involved in my matters especially not the Minotaur but she was already gone. Wow she was truly fast!

I closed the door and slowly turned back to the Minotaur and saw that he raised his eyebrow in silent question. I knew that I should explain him what was she talking about, but hell no! I was not the one who should explain something so instead of explanation I said:

“Now we are alone and I think you should explain first Asterion. I have so many questions that I am not sure what should I ask first. Maybe you can tell me why are you here and how it is possible that you are still alive when I saw your death.” He was not surprised when I called him by his name so he was well informed who I was indeed.

He saw that I was starring impatiently at him and was waiting for his explanation and he had no other choice just to reveal the truth so he sighed and said to me:

“It would be great if you could call me Asterion. I prefer my true name instead of minotaur but actually now it’s not important how do you call me. I assume that I should explain first, but Clotho please let me tell you the whole story without cutting me off! I think you have few questions so I will try to explain everything but you have to be patient because it takes some time.” and he smiled at me.

Like he had really smiled at me! Unbelievable! I thought that he would have killed me as soon as I closed the door because he knew who I was and that I was one of the fate goddesses so I was responsible for his death. Actually it was Atri who ended his life by cutting his life-thread but for Asterion it was surely not important who was the one who caused his death.

Asterion was neither man nor beast, he had the body of a man and the head and tail of a bull. He was cruel beast that satisfied his hunger by eating innocent victims.

So I was sure that he hated me and my sisters for what we have done to him but how could he be now so smiling at me? I really had to loose my mind or the world has changed too much. I was thinking that I couldn’t be more surprised when he said to me:

“At First, welcome to the Moon’s academy. I am realy glad that you are here!”

I started to being nervous. Are you kidding me now? What the hell is this? Some kind of joke or what?! That’s realy too much for me! Asterion was glad that I was here, like really? I was looking around to see if I don't see any of my sisters to jump and say that it was all just joke but we were alone. There was no one except us.

“Surely you were asking why were you choosen to be there instead of your sisters.”

No,no,no!

I saw him alive instead of being dead and he started with this one? I was asking something else and now he was going to talk about the reason why I was here? Of course I was currious and I was still asking this question to myself but now there were more important questions than that.

He saw my skeptical gaze and said:

“I know, I know you want first some other answers but believe me I have to start from the beginning. I can assure you that in the end your questions will be answered. Just be patient for once at least, please.”

The world has not changed. The world got crazy. I knew it now for sure because in normal world bloodthirsty minotaur would never beg me to be patient, because patience was never in his dictionary.
