Old Friends

"Aaron! Aaron!" I shouted, gaining his attention. "What?" He inquired. "Nineteen years.... Its been nineteen years since we have seen Vincent." I exclaimed, watching his face contort into confusion. "Ok?! What does that mean?" Aaron asked. "He's invited us to dinner!" I exclaimed, swimming around Aaron in circles, my tail creating bubbles in the water. The guard I had posted on land received a call from Vincent, inviting us to dinner. Stating there was good news to talk about. My mind was running a thousand miles a minute, wondering what could be so important, to drag us back to shore. "What? Why?" Aaron questioned. "No clue, he didn't say. Just said there was good news to talk about." I replied, pumping my arms through the water. I had no clue I would be this excited to surface again after this long. Giggling as Aaron pulled me into his arms, kissing my cheek. " I wonder what it's about, maybe we can check on Aceal and Henry while we're on land. We should inform Kira and Ethan as well." Aaron responded. I hated when he was right, we needed to inform Kira, she would want to surface with us to check on her son. "Who is going to keep everything running? What about the training sessions and magical abilities classes for those just coming into their powers?" I inquired, trying not to panic. "Just what do you think I am? Rotten shark chum left out for too long?" Came my grandmother's voice. "No, of course not grandma.... Just at your age, are you sure you can handle this?" I questioned, chewing on my bottom lip. "Just who helped you? If you don't think this old bag of scales is up for the task, well then maybe I'll go live outside of the kingdom. Being a shell pandler wasn't so bad before." She snipped, throwing her hand to her forehead acting as if I had defeated her with mere words. "Grandma! You will do no such thing!" I yelled. After my parents' death she was the only family I had left outside of Aaron's. "Then it's settled! Your old bag of scales will handle everything." She remarked, hiding a sly smile. "Could you stop calling yourself an old bag of scales?" I exaggerated the last couple of words, to emphasize her dramatic wording. "Only if you agree to let me run things while the four of you visit my favorite boys." She replied. "Yes grandmother, just no turning any of the kids into sardines again!" I exclaimed, swimming out of the throne room to find Kira. My excitement hard to contain as I spun her around once finding her. Our shrieks filling the space around us, "Wait, why are we shrieking like we're little again?" Kira questioned, putting a halt to our spinning. "We're going to surface again!" I screamed, giddy over the fact I would get to check on my son. "Why? What happened? Is the other part of our kingdom ok? I thought you and Aaron appointed Isabella to watch over them. She was supposed to manage our people on land, is she ok?" Kira bombarded me with her list of questions, not slowing down. "No! Everything with our kingdom is perfectly fine. Vincent invited Aaron and I to dinner. While we're surfaced we figured we could check on Henry and Aceal." I replied. "They boys?! We promised they could explore without us! They are going to be furious at us for surfacing without warning." Kira reminded me. "Maybe so, but they have been gone three months. I want to see my boy." I sulked, knowing I sounded childish. "You have to trust him to make the right choices. Though, in all honesty, I'm curious to see Henry, and find out if he found his beloved." Kira responded. Kira had never approved of Henry's current girlfriend, she was always after Henry to marry her since his eighteenth birthday, five months ago. Kira often said he was being used, because of his position with Aceal. Henry was stationed as Aceal's personal guard, while his father, Ethan, was Aaron's. Ethan also turned out to be Kira's beloved. Their connections to the royal family made Henry rather popular with the ladies, trying to get to Aceal. However, none of the women turned out to be Aceal's beloved, and he refused to marry them. His thought was if they used his best friend, that they would use him. "What is all the excitement about?" Came a voice from behind us. "We get to go see our son!" Kira replied eagerly, as she spun around spotting Ethan swimming towards us. "What do you mean? There's a kingdom to run, and they are on land." Ethan replied, with a look of confusion painted across his face. "Calypso got an invitation to dinner on land, with an old friend of hers. We can check in with Isabella, find out how our people have adjusted, and are doing with the decision of a split rule. Once we are done, we can check on Henry." Kira responded, finding an excuse to make the trip justifiable for Ethan and her. "Oh! Who is going to run the kingdom down here?" Ethan inquired, almost quizzing us, to see if we had everything planned out already. "My grandmother will watch over our people here." I replied, glaring at Ethan, daring him to make another remark. "Are you sure your grandmother is capable of the job?" He continued his interrogation. "She claims she can, so I guess we will find out." I stated. "If you're sure, let's go." Ethan responded, grabbing Kira's hand and swimming off in the opposite direction. Two white four-door hummers sat parked on the road, a short distance from the shoreline we had just surfaced on, while four bags of clothes sat on the cool sand. Quickly getting dressed, leaning over and whispering in Aaron's ear, " He had people waiting for our arrival." " Good thing he did or we would be walking on to his property naked." Aaron laughed. The thought of Vincent's family seeing us naked made me cringe. Although, I was happy Vincent remembered to have clothes brought with his guards, even if mine were a size too small. Catching a glimpse of Aaron's smile as my breasts were pushed further up than they should have been. "I hope they don't mind stopping for me to buy something more appropriate, and in the right size. I would hate going to dinner looking like this." I said. "I'm sure they won't mind, at least you didn't get stuck with men's gym shorts and a tank top." Kira remarked, rolling her eyes. "Are you making fun of how human men dress?" Aaron teased, pretending to be offended. "You're damn right I am. I would rather wear feminine clothes to show off my figure." Kira smirked, before lightly pushing Aaron's arm, earning a jealous glare from Ethan. "Oh please! You're my beloved, not him! Just because he's king doesn't mean I want him." She finished her sentence, wrapping her arms around Ethan's waist before hugging him tightly.
