HAILEY The line goes dead. And for a long moment, I simply sit there staring at my phone as though glaring hard enough might somehow convince Mom to call back and admit she was joking. She doesn't. Slowly, I lower the phone onto my desk before leaning back in my chair and dragging both hands down my face. The office is completely silent. Unfortunately, my thoughts are not because apparently, while I was busy trying not to die from embarrassment every time Eamon walked into a room, the universe decided now would be the perfect time to hand me a potential inter-pack conflict.
