Ningning's breath caught momentarily as he gazed deeply into her eyes. At some point, she couldn’t take it anymore, her cheeks flushed red.
Finally, Jinu's cold expression softened into a subtle, chilly smile. "Ah, it seems you didn't see... You're the one who's desperate. You're so desperate you can't even push me away," he said with irritation.
Ningning's cheeks burned furiously. She couldn't say a word. Summoning her strength, she pushed him away. Jinu took a step back. Her slight push didn’t do much, but it made him retreat slightly. Without hesitation, Jinu moved forward again, his face close to hers.
"Never call me desperate, especially when you exist."
Ningning's face twisted in shock and embarrassment. Jinu retreated, his face cold. He scanned the room, gave a look of disgust, then stormed out, gently slamming the door behind him.
Ningning leaned against the wall, breathing heavily, her chest heaving with irritation and a hint of embarrassment. He had managed to leave her furious once more.
Remembering the look of disgust in his eyes as he glanced around the bedroom, Ningning concluded he definitely didn't want to stay here.
"That's good. Don't even come back to sleep here."
It was better not to share a bed with such a demon of a man.
By the time she climbed into bed, the storm outside had settled slightly, though the tension in her chest still lingered. Just as she was about to drift off, her phone buzzed on the nightstand. Despite her exhaustion, Ningning groaned and reached for it, squinting at the screen. An unknown number flashed with a brand name.
She hesitated briefly before answering.
"Miss Ningning, hello," the voice greeted formally.
"We're really sorry for calling so late. We received notice that you are no longer interested in renewing your endorsement contract for Bloomer. Would you like to confirm?" Ningning froze.
A jolt ran through her as she closed her eyes briefly, trying to recall. She murmured, "Bloomer." A memory surfaced—she remembered that in the novel, the original Ningning was a brand endorser, but her manager had mistreated her, held her back with excuses, and rejected most of her good opportunities. She was destined for greater success. Only now did she realize Olivia had manipulated her life—controlling her career by sabotaging her manager and blocking her progress.
A cold smile crept onto Ningning’s lips. "Of course, I'm renewing," she said. “I'll be there tomorrow myself."
She ended the call and let the phone sink onto the bed. Her mind turned to how wicked Olivia was and how deep her hatred went. This was just the beginning.
Looking around the quiet room, aside from the faint sounds outside, Ningning pulled the blanket tightly around her shoulders and let exhaustion take over. She closed her eyes.
At the door, a faint creak sounded as someone entered. Ningning didn't open her eyes or move. She stayed still, then sensed the weight of his presence, as if he was watching her. Her heartbeat quickened, betraying her nerves.
After a moment, the footsteps faded away. The room fell silent again. Believing he had left, Ningning finally surrendered to sleep, unaware of the tense moment she had just ignored.
The next morning.
She slowly opened her eyes, gazing at the beautiful ceiling. When she awoke, new dresses had been laid out on the bed. Coincidentally, Nanny Jane entered quietly, smiling when she saw Ningning awake. "You're awake. Sorry for barging in. Mr. Ford said we should bring these clothes for you while waiting for your things to be picked up from your house."
Ningning nodded as she sat up. Everything was progressing; she needed to get her career back on track. Nanny Jane continued, "Sorry we didn’t bring your hair dryer. If you need anything else, just let me know. Please come downstairs for breakfast—it's set"
Ningning nodded as she hurried into the bathroom. When she finished, she went downstairs. Downstairs, she saw a table piled with food. Her brows twitched slightly. "Who was going to eat all that?" She was definitely someone with little appetite.
Seeing Ningning had come downstairs, Nanny Jane smiled. "We didn't really know your taste, but we hope you'll enjoy this."
Ningning smiled as she took her seat. She was about to eat when she looked around. Nanny Jane seemed to know who she was searching for. "Mr. Ford?" "Mr. Ford left very early this morning."
As Ningning started eating a maid ran forward
“Mr Ford made this for you”
Ningning glanced up immediately
He prepared something for her?She wondered with curiosity, looking around.
