Ningning glanced back... His hair was dripping wet, water streaming down his broad, toned chest.
She couldn't help but size him up..if there was a perfect example of a devil's appearance, it was him. His parted hair was now stuck to his striking face.
She had forgotten her gaze hadn't left him. Without hesitation, Ningning wore a satisfied expression, her lips curved downward as she nodded.
Noticing her gaze and expression, Jinu's gaze faltered slightly, and he frowned... Those curves of her lips seemed unimpressive—and perhaps suggested that his looks were average, Jinu thought. This bothered him.
He went to the dressing room, picked out a shirt, and quickly changed. When he finished, he walked over with a folder.
Ningning sat at the other end of the bed, combing her wet hair. As Jinu approached and silently extended the folder to her, she paused her action.
She took the folder and glanced at it—but hadn't finished reading when he handed her a pen.
“Sign it.”
Ningning looked up briefly. Jinu also gazed into her large, doe-like eyes, drawn in by her fluttering long lashes and big eyes. He quickly added coldly, "You didn't sign it that day at the old mansion."
Calmly, Ningning took the pen, when his cold voice rang out again, she looked up.
“Read it carefully," he said flatly.
She picked up the first page: "Duration of marriage: three years minimum. Early termination is subject to financial penalties as outlined in section 4.3."
Ningning blinked. "Three years minimum?" she asked, looking up at him. "You really plan to keep me that long?"
Jinu's expression remained unchanged, but his lips twitched slightly.
She continued reading. "Public conduct: neither party shall reveal personal sensitive information regarding the marriage to third parties."
Ningning snorted softly. "Shut!..So, I can't gossip about my wonderful midnight mistake husband.”
She leaned back on the bed,Jinu's gaze flicked briefly as his eyes narrowed. _Did he just hear that right?... Did she really just call him a 'midnight mistake'?_
Ningning covered her mouth, realizing what she had just said aloud. She didn't dare look up, her eyes fixed on the contract.
"Financial and assets: the mistress of the house shall receive adequate living provisions. Company shares may also be shared adequately."
Ningning tapped the bed, smirking. "Ah, so I get food, clothes—and the company. Very generous of you."
Jinu's expression stayed neutral as he gazed at her with a serious look. "Let's see how long I’ll keep being generous with that mouth of yours."
Ningning's eyes widened as she looked up at him, trying to hold back her laughter. _Even this ice king took things way too seriously._
As she read the rest of the contract, her eyes twitched repeatedly. She raised a hand to rub her eyebrows, fighting a smile. The contract was kind of amusing.
Finally, she decided to sign. After all, she was gaining a lot—she had married into wealth, technically more powerful than her stepfamily, and she was about to get a fortune. Inside, she felt a surge of happiness. She quickly signed her name.
She placed the pen on her side without thinking and handed him the papers. Jinu nodded silently, barely moving his head as he held the documents, one hand in his pocket.
He suddenly leaned in closer, deliberate, his face nearly brushing Ningning's. Her eyes widened.
He looked at her coldly.
"Move," he said quietly.
Ningning shifted slightly. "Oh…”
Jinu didn't answer. Instead, he stepped even closer, grabbing the pen along with his wristwatch. Just when she thought he might step back, he leaned in even more, leaving her stunned.
Suddenly, the fragrant of her hair wafted into his nose,he froze slightly.
After a tense moment, he finally retreated slightly, glaring at her and holding the papers up in front of her face.
"Don't forget this place. Don't disturb me. It’s clearly stated."
Ningning glared back, What the hell…she didn't even make a move, wasn't he the one doing so much for just a pen and a wristwatch.
This midnight mistake was trying to humiliate her. She lifted her chin.
"Don't I reek of desperation?" she challenged.
Jinu froze briefly, his gaze lingering. He noticed the slight cold smile on Ningning's lips, furrowing his brows.
She continued before he could respond.
"If I reek of desperation, then you shouldn't disturb me either."
She stood up, gazing up at the tall, imposing devil.
"Because if you do, you’ll reek of desperation just as well."
Jinu's face remained icy for a moment.
Without another word, she was about to move to the other side when without warning,he grabbed her hands, pushing her to the wall and cornering her as he stared into her soul.
