They entered the Chesapeake Grille as one, each still dressed in their funeral clothes and carrying the items they had received the previous night at the funeral home. They were escorted immediately to the back of the upscale restaurant and led up several flights of stairs to a private dining room that stretched across the entire top storey.
None of the Fossil Five had ever been on this level, and it took each a moment to adjust as they laid down their purses, keys and the previous night’s artifacts on a table by the door. Floor-to-ceiling windows lined all four sides, with the exception of the small corner on the northwest side where they entered. The windows granted an unparalleled view of Jacob’s Landing and beyond.
