chapter 28 Drew was deep in the overgrown bushes bordering the front of the deck when Mar and Cassandra arrived. A stretch of pruned shrubs and weeded earth with bulbs pushing new shoots up, showed his progress. “Well, I had no idea you were a green thumb,” gushed Cassandra coming over to survey his work. “I’m not. Anyone can hack into bushes and pull up weeds.” Cassandra frowned, but let it go. She reached in the tray of Mar’s truck and opened the boxes she kept there to protect the groceries and began hauling them inside. “You do know that Mikey stocked the place up for us, before we arrived?” Drew called. “A gift from my mother,” Cassandra said. “She loves with food when she feels helpless to do anything else.” Drew watched her come and go, from the truck to the cabin, waiting fo
