Mar spent the next hour falling down the rabbit hole of the blossoming relationship between Joshua and Nalini. Joshua shone through his entries describing their time together: walks along the cliffs; trips to the museums in Baltimore; a few jaunts on Chesapeake Bay sailing with Sue, the school’s athletic director. Mar saw the love illuminated in Joshua and Nalini’s shared words in the cards they wrote, the little notes tucked here and there as little surprises to make their days just that much better. If she wasn’t reading it herself (and the notes themselves), she would consider such a love impossible.
Time marched past midnight, but she committed to reading to the pivotal date of May 12 1991 regardless of the hour.
With a fresh bottle of merlot on the table, Mar upended the
