Her voice rose. "Evelyn won't help me, and now you're abandoning me too?"

"The hotel fired you because you weren't doing your job. What does that have to do with Evelyn?"
"You're still defending her?" Chloe's voice shook. "She married Damian. She doesn't even want you anymore!"
She tore off her name tag and threw it on the floor.
