Ari Chapter 2

1763 Words
Stunned silence followed as every witch in the circle starred at the ball of light that hovered in front of me waiting for it to move. This couldn’t be real the magic couldn’t have chosen me, of all the people here I had no magic. I’m not sure how long we all stood there waiting hoping that it would move and choose someone else. “Ari” my mom’s voice rang out across the circle startling me I looked up, “Step forward please” stepping forward I studied her face for a moment hoping to see something that would help me understand what was happening, but her face was a perfect mask of calm not giving away a single thought or emotion. As far as I knew every witch who had ever been chosen has had a substantial amount of magical talent. Suddenly the ball of magic started moving again this time closer to me until it hovered just in front of my face before stopping there as if it was waiting for something. Looking across the circle at the dragon I watched as he stepped forward and the magic seems to disappear into him. Copying what he had done I felt so sure as I stepped forward that the magic would reject me but it did the opposite of what I wanted. Disappearing into me as it had done with the dragon it had chosen; for a moment I didn’t feel anything then it felt as if my whole body was on fire. Crying out my knees buckled under the invisible weight of the magic and the pain I was feeling. But before my knees could hit the ground arms circled my waist. Where the hands touched me the pain eased but the was quickly replaced by need. Looking up at the person who had caught me it took me a moment for my eyes to focus and to realize it was the dragon that the magic had chosen for me. Seeing his face for a moment I was struck by how incredibly handsome this dragon was. Long dark hair and stubble framed his face bringing out the blue of his eyes making them almost seem like they were glowing but then again maybe they were. I had never once bothered to read anything on the dragon clan or what happened during the ceremony as I never thought in a million years I would be chosen. Yet here I was in the arms of a dragon unsure and so not ready for whatever was to come next. The need was what yanked me from my thoughts I needed this man no dragon in front of me more than I needed my next breath. Grabbing the side of his face I forced him close before pressing my lips against his in a kiss only pulling back enough to nip his lip. Pulling a growl from his mouth he pulled me closer his fingers digging into my sides as he pulled me close. Pressing the length of my body to his bringing my attention to his need as it pressed against my stomach. “Please make the fire stop” I gasped against his lips clutching at his shoulders needing to feel more of him not even thinking of the other people in the circle that must be watching. His hands moved from under my shirt soothing the fire I felt inside while also fanning more the intimate flames that I felt inside. He slowly started to remove my clothing piece by piece until I stood before him in nothing more than my underwear. Removing his shorts he stood in front of me leaving nothing to my imagination and showing me he wanted me as much as I needed him. Pulling me close our hands explored teasing as we brought gasps and growls from each other. With every intimate touch, the fire dissipated until the only thing I could feel was the need, I needed him as I had never had another person. “Please I need you” the words escaping from me in a gasp as his fingers found the sensitive spot between my thighs bringing me closer and closer to the release I so desperately needed. What came next felt like moments suspended in time as my dragon took me eliminating the pain the magic had brought and leaving me with unbelievable pleasure. As the hold that the magic had over me seemed to dissipate I became aware of the audience that still stood around us among those in attendance was the elders and my mother who stood in the center of the circle now chanting their voices once again growing in volume as the closed the circle and finished the ceremony. Realizing a moment too late that I was completely naked I looked around searching for them or at least something to cover myself with. As I reached for my shirt a few feet away a hand grabbed mine stopping me. Looking up into the still glowing blue eyes of the dragon what had been soothing and a turn on just moments ago made me sick to my stomach knowing that so many people had been watching me and the dragon together. The fact that I had completely forgotten that any of them were even there seemed to make it so much worse. Wrapping his arm around me he pulled me close tucking me against his chest and doing his best to hide my naked body from those in attendance. “Clothes are not allowed until they finish out the circle” he murmured his lips brushing against my ear as he spoke softly. His hand ran up and down my back as the voices of the elders faded leaving only silence. Looking over my shoulder at my mother I begging with my eyes to please make these people leave before they made us stand up. Unfortunately either she didn’t know what I was silently asking or she couldn’t help me I didn’t know because my night seemed to only get worse as she moved out from the group of elders her voice rang out. “The two chosen Ari of the blood rose coven and Devlin prince of the dragon shifter clan please step forward so we can all rejoice in your joining and the continuance of another year of safety.” Cheers broke out among those gathered in the circle and outside as Devlin pulled me to my feet he pulled me close to his side doing his best to hide most of my nakedness from those that gathered. As the noise dyed down we were instructed to follow my mother and the elders back to the compound. When we arrived back at the compound it wasn’t until we were lead back to my mother’s study that we were finally given something to cover up with. Standing at the door leading into the study an older witch waited with two robes one for me and one for Devlin. Devlin took the robes from the witch who didn’t bother to hide the surprise on her face when she saw me tucked into his side. Looking into the study she looked back at me as I was helped into my robe her eyes full of doubt and anger she turned on her heel taking off in the direction we had come from. As we entered the study my anxiety jumped even higher than before seeing not only the elders but also several dragons gathered in the room. Already the elders were making their opinion and their doubt know several stating that there must be some mistake that I had never once shown any magical talent whatsoever and that accepting me as one of the chosen would be a mistake that would put our world in danger. While the elders argued amongst themselves the dragons watched me their eyes glowing as they looked me up and down making me feel as if they could see things that the rest of us couldn't. The eyes of each of the dragons seemed to pull me in blocking out the arguing of the elders I felt a calm flow through me. “Do not fret child even those among our kind and yours who show the least promise can sometimes turn out to be the most powerful in the end.” A voice rang through my head bringing me back to reality I looked around to see if anyone else had heard what I had but the only person who seemed aware of what I had just heard was Devlin whose arm seemed to tighten around me while the voice spoke. Looking back at the dragons I couldn’t help but think for the first time that maybe there was more to them than most people thought. “She must have done something to trick the magic” an elder suddenly shouted over everyone else in the room. While many shouted their agreement many others spoke up in my defense. Growls from the gathered dragons revered through the room startling the witches into silence. “The magic makes no mistake the bond is made and cannot be undone to suggest doing so would be an attack on not only our continued bond with your coven but also on the paranormal community that we all strive to protect. Any attempt to break the bond will be met with the full force of the dragon clan” The dragon that sat on the couch in front of me stood the threat very clear as his voice dropped to a threatening growl as he looked from one witch to another before turning to my mother. “Do you as head of your coven wish Ari and Devlin’s bond harm?” Eyes narrowed on her my mother didn’t bother to look at or consult the elders before she answered the older dragon. “Ari is my daughter and I would do anything to protect her from any and every threat even if that threat was from my own coven.” My mom stood tall looking at the elders making her own threat clear and that she would stand with not only the dragons but also me. For the first time since I was young, I felt close to my mother in a way I never thought we would be again.
