As the Fia stirred from her slumber, she had the feeling that someone was watching her. Opening one eye, she felt the sun light up the space naturally. Looking around she saw Sophia sleeping soundly. Her body must be exhausted after last night. Fia couldn’t remember the last time she saw the sun, it felt like a life time ago. When coming to the pack, the rain had followed them and now it has finally passed on, leaving the warmth of the sun in its stead.
Feeling a surge of energy, she sat up and looked in front of her. There at the end of her bed was a woman standing 5’4. She had flawless olive skin that complimented the golden blonde hair that hung loosely in curls all the way to her shoulders. Her features were quite petite except for the most piercing pair of ocean blue eyes that reminded Fia of a porcelain doll. She was dressed rather lavishly in a pair of tight hugging black jeans and baby blue v-neck satin top which showed off her assets. She seemed to be taking in Fias appearance, making her feel slightly conscious of her body. She stood no where close to her beauty.
Hearing a stir in the bed next to Fia, Sophia opened her eyes and yawned, taking note of the woman at the end of Fias bed. “Serena,” she mused, “Come to do your magic?” Sophia said with a knowing smile on her face. Serena’s face softened as she moved her gaze to Sophia. “You know it.” She said before turning back to Fia. “Hi, I’m Serena, Logans mate. Ready to shop till we drop?” her eyes gleamed in excitement. Fia nodded. “Let’s do this!”
--- TIME PASS ---
Fia looked down at the clothes that hung on her body. She borrowed a fitted black tshirt and sweat pants from their shifting collection. Both items were a size too big for her, making them hang loosely on her figure. She was able to tie the pants into place and felt pretty comfortable as she normally wore her robes all the time. Her hair which was tied in a bun, gleamed in the sun as water droplets dripped down her neck. Before going, Fia was able to grab a shower, washing her hair with tea tree products and waking her body up. Her wolf was excited to leave the house and experience the outside world again. She couldn’t remember the last time she had needed to stay indoors so long.
Turning to Serena, she noticed the look she got when she came out dressed. “You want to wear this?” she asked, clearly disappointed. “We have more work to do than I thought.” Now the pair were parking Serenas Red Suzuki swift at the local mall. They had discussed basics, where they grew up, what they liked, where they had travelled. Nothing more than mundane conversation. Fia could sense that Serena was holding something back but decided to let her share if she chose to. Aware that these were not normal circumstances.
Once inside the mall, Fia felt out of place, species of all kinds were wandering the space, making their presence seem mundane to those without the sight. Humans, wolves, vampires, witches, all living in blissful ignorance of each other. Music played from the speakers as background noise and the chatter of friends and acquaintances heightened the nose level. The lights were bright in most shops and the colours seemed to overwhelm her senses. Serena was saying something but with the extra stimulus around her, she was unable to focus on her.
Serena turned and seemed to notice the change in Fia. Taking her hand, she led her into the first shop and brought her straight to the dressing room. “Are you ok?” Serena asked, her voice low, concern on her face. “I’m sorry,” Fia said as she felt her heart slow down. When had her heart beat increased? “I guess this is the first time I’ve been in a mall. We tend to wear the clothes provided to us in the pack and any time normal clothing came, it was donated to the apprentices to wear as they took part in the mating call.” Serena listened, her eyes had softened slightly, taking in her words. “How about this then,” her voice showing determination. “I will pick some clothes for you. You can try them on and we will decide together. Once you settle into the space, we can then look at stuff together.” Fia nodded, feeling sheepish. “Sounds good.”
“This is kind of tight...” Fia said as she fastened the buttons on a pair of skinny jeans. “Stop whinging and let me see,” Serena had the perfect mom voice. As she stepped out in a black band tshirt with the letters AC/DC written on and the jeans, Serenas smile picked up. “those jeans are a must but that t-shirt is too big.” Fia frowned slightly. “I like big.” She whispered taking in her appearance in the mirror. “Big is for teenagers who aren’t comfortable in their bodies. You are a woman, a future Luna if you decide. You need to dress to impress.” Fia jumped at the word Luna. She hadn’t even processed that thought. “Luna,” she mumbled, “I never thought about that.” Serena rolled her eyes as she passed her a black satin v neck tshirt. It was identical to hers. “Try this then.” Nodding, she took the top and brought in back to the changing room. Once dressed, Fia felt the soft fabric hug her body. “Ready?” Serena asked, “Mmmhhmmm” Fia hummed as she stepped out. Serena smiled. “Now that outfit screams Luna.” She said as they both looked at Fias reflection in the mirror. “Is that… me?” Fia asked, astonishment in her eyes.
After the first three shops, Fia finally felt comfortable in the mall space. She had learnt to tune out the excess noise and after that, the rest was a lot easier to process. Serena had chosen differenet styles of clothing to match her figure but some times the price tag was a little too high. “You don’t have to worry about money.” Serena had told her. “Alex said he wants you to be comfortable so anything that goes over your budget her is happy to spend. “I can’t accept that generous offer.” Fia had moaned but Serena was having none of it. She knew how to get her way and something told her that if needed, she could put the best of them back in their box.
As the day went on, the two of them seemed to settle and the previous discomfort had passed. Was this the power of shopping? Fia wondered. With the amount of clothing bought, she may never need to go again but she was grateful to have experienced it at least once. “Are you hungry?” Serena asked after they exited the last shop. Bags full in each of their hands. Fia realised at that moment that she hadn’t eaten in three days, her wolf, peaking its head up, growled in acknowledgement. “Yes,” Fias eyes gleamed. “I could eat”
