“Right, just special women like me,” I bit off sarcastically. He reacted with amusement, but that response was short-lived. His eyes seemed to burn inside me, two fiery orbs of fantastical light that drew me deeper into his remarkable essence. He sat back again and stared at me with an expression of contentment, as if I was playing the game exactly as he imagined it.
