I was grateful for Nicholas’ scent as we sat in the waiting room with The Council. I found myself wishing he was sitting beside me however, instead of across from me. That would have added another layer of much needed comfort as we faced the Leadership, something that while I found myself unable to fully admit, was true enough that I couldn’t deny it either. I maintained my cool calm confidence on the outside, however, and was grateful to at least have Aruna’s support beside me. It seemed like Nicholas felt when I needed him most during my explanations, as I would look over at him and see comfort and belief in me deep within his penetrating blue eyes.
