The Broken Luna

Chapter 10 Mira

TRIGGER WARNING: THERE WILL BE VIOLENCE AND s****l VIOLENCE IN THIS CHAPTER. I WILL PUT ANOTHER WARNING BEFORE HEAVY SCENES

It was dark. And cold. And I couldn't think. Or breathe. Or see. Or feel. It was like suffocating in my own mind. The only thing I could feel was the cold burning of the wolfsbane in my veins. I felt so dirty with this poison inside me.

As the wolfsbane started to clear from my system, after God knows how long, I became a little more aware of what was happening around me. I could feel my body again and hear again. I could feel that I had been slumped over a wolf's body, their body heat keeping more warm in what felt like freezing air and their fur tickling my nose.

"How much further to the Northern Moonstone Pack?" I heard Freya'srough, gritty voice croak out. Her voice sounded raw from the cold air, and like she hadn't drank water in days.

"Another day's walk, Parricida." came a man's low voice from somewhete ahead of us. He called her "traitor" in Latin.

Had Faye betrayed her new comrades, too? I really hoped not, because while I couldn't move, I was completely reliant on her to at least care enough to keep me alive.

"This pack betrayed me by being too weak to protect its own. Hopefully, your pack proves to be more capable," she replied coolly.

"Aye, and you shall be most rewarded for helping us retrieve our Luna," his eough voice came again.

"Ugh, why is everyone so obsessed with this boring goody-two-shoes anyways? She's not even that hot!" Faye exclaimed in disgust.

"We need her. She has dominion over our pack gifted to her from the Moon Goddess herself. Unless she makes a deal with neighboring packs or formally passes on the claim, we are weakened, forever ununited. But, if our chosen Alpha can mate her and sire an heir, then he can rule until the child's 18th birthday," the rough voice calmly explained.

"Yeah, good luck.with that plan," Faye snorted, "Mira's only ever f****d once and only with her mate. There's no way she'd consent to that."

"Our Alpha isn't concerned with consent," the voice said.

Panic clenched my heart. I had to escape before we reached the packlands. But how? I still couldn't move, and even once I would be able to, my muscles would be stuff from not moving and days of travel atop a wolf's back. And, what if they dose me again? Then, I would be totally f****d. Their "chosen Alpha" could seal the deal before I ever even wake up. Maybe that would be better. At least then, I wouldn't have to feel it.

TRIGGER WARNING s****l VIOLENCE

Flashback

It was scary hiding in the closet. Mama had said there were bad men outside and her and Daddy would have to go fight them. I don't know how long I stood there in the dark, holding my teddy bear. I was ten, none of my wolf powers had come in yet and wouldn't for several years. I heard the doorknob turn and saw a flash of light as the closet door swung open. I expected to see Daddy standing there saying they had gotten the bad guys. But it was a man I had never met before. He was tall with dark hair that fell into his eyes which were the lightest shade of blue. I wish I could forget those eyes. He stared into mine as he grabbed the back of my head. He was so strong, and moved so quickly, there was nothing I could do. Nothing. I didn't even have time to scream before he shoved his pants down with his other hands and pushed himself against my lips. It hurt how hard he was pushing, and the scent of his skin made me want to gag. he pushed my chin down with the hand he'd used to pull down his pants and forced himself onto my mouth. I hated how smooth he was, how salty he tasted how he made my mouth feel like it was being torn open, the corners of my lips stretched painfully. I hated feeling him hit the back of my throat again and again. I tried to close my eyes so that I could at least be somewhere else in my mind, but he spoke with an awful voice like broken glass,

"Don't you dare close your eyes, pretty. Keep them open, or I'll break your neck when I'm done."

I opened my eyes, scared to even blink, as tears poured down my face. Instead, I stated into his impossibly blue eyes, trying to drown myself in the water I imagined was there.

"Goddess, you're the best I've ever had," hee mumbled as he pulsate, filling my mouth with something that tasted awful. I wanted to vomit, but he commanded me,

"Swallow it, princess, every drop."

More tears poured down my face as I obeyed, scared of what he'd do if I didn't.

"I'm going to go now and tell my friends where to find you for a good time. They aren't as gentle as me, Princess, but I hope you survive so I can have another go someday," he whispered in my ear. I could feel his hot wet breathe as he bit the flesh there before turning to walk away, pulling his pants up ad he left. Just then, Alpha Reiz burst in, just 10 minutes too late to truly save me. He ripped out the man's throat and held me as I sobbed. We never spoke of that moment, but I knew I wouldn't survive another moment like that.

TRIGGER WARNING OVER

I had to escape. Now.

"Moon Goddess, if you can hear me, please help me!" I begged. But she didn't answer. I felt a cold needle pierce my neck before the dark embrace of wolfsbane took me again.

When I fully awoke, I was in a very comfortable four post bed. The duvet was black with intricate embroidery in baby blue threading. The pillows felt like clouds beneath my head. I blinked my eyes awake and took a mental assessment of my body: everything felt normal, no soreness anywhere.

"He hasn't done it yet," Faye whispered.

A loud growl escaped me and I was already a wolf with her throat between my teeth before I could even blink.

"LUNA, PLEASE WAIT!" she screeched as she begged.

I growled to tell her to speak fast.

"I-I-I didn't know what he was planning. I just wanted out of my life, I didn't realize I was selling you to the devil. I'm so sorry, Mira. I'm so sorry," she sobbed. I let her go and looked at her for the first time. She was dirty, like she hadn't showered since we had left Crimson Moon. There were leaves in her hair and dirt on her face and arms and she smelled like BO.

"Can you shift back so we can talk?" she asked.

I obliged, but only because I had a lot of questions I couldn't ask in wolf form. I was human again in 2 seconds.

"Wow, you are really fast at that now that Fallon’s marked you," Faye whispered.

Another growl escaped me at the sound of my mate's name. The mate she stole me from.

"I'm so sorry, Mira," she cried again.

"I have a lot of questions a d I need you to talk, fast. Ate we already in the Northern Moonstone Packhouse? If so, how far are we from potential exits? Have you been able to mindlink anyone? How could you be so f*****g stupid and naive for a girl so "well-traveled "" I asked putting air quotes on the last two words. Faye had had her heart broken by more men than I could count and yet she did this.

"Yes, we're in the future Luna room. They've got the door locked magically and there are no windows. We'd have to wait for the witch to unlock the door. But I think if we ambushed them together, we could make it to the side door down the hall that they brought you in from. I can't mindlink anyone because I'm a rogue. I left willingly with those lying bastards. I just thought they wanted you to hand over the Luna Alpha thing or whatever, I didn't realize they wanted to r**e and impregnate you. I also didn't realize they'd keep me prisoner the second we arrived! I'm sorry!" she sobbed.

Shit. I couldn't see a genuine way out of this. s**t.
