Ugh. Mira and Fallon finally hooked up. I couldn’t wait to get out of here. The two enforcers from the Northern Moonstone Pack were already here. My role was simple: after the party, I'd ask Mira for help cleaning up. She has such a bleeding heart that she'd readily accept. I'd tell her we should start outside, and then they would make their move, and we'd all four be out of here before sunrise.I really didn't care what they decided to do with her, she always annoyed me. She was such a goody-two-shoes. Never drank, never smoked, never even kissed a guy much less had s*x. Like she was so much better than the rest of us for keeping herself "pure." Well, good riddance. Handing her over was my ticket out of this forsaken pack.
I watched the hours tick by on the clock in my room. My bags were already packed and hidden away outside, so there was nothing in here except the small bed and pedestal sink and nightstand. Finally, I heard the last of the party guests start their treck home.
"Faye!" I heard Alpha Reiz call, "Could you please start on the trash collection? Everything else can wait until morning. "
"Of course, Alpha," I called back, "No problem. "
I walked over to Mira's room and knocked on the door.
"Come in," she called. The guest wing bedrooms weren't soundproof like the rest of the house.
"Hey, could you help me gather all of the trash?" I asked, trying to ignore the tear tracks on her cheeks.
"Yeah, no problem," she replied, her voice raw from crying.
Jeez, bug deal, your mate's Alpha wolf broadcasted your first time. I was actually pretty impressed with how kinky she secretly was. It almost made me respect her. Almost.
"I was thinking we should start outside, that way we can get everything before it gets too cold," I said, trying to keep my tone neutral.
"Okay," she sniffled. Ugh.
She stood, and I saw she was wearing an oversized black t-shirt with black windshorts. She was definitely going to be cold where we were going.
We started making our way outside when Alpha Reiz stepped in our path. s**t.
"Mira, what are you doing?" He asked.
"I was just going to help Faye with the trash," Mira replied in a monotone voice.
"Okay, so help with the inside trash. I don't think it's safe for you to be outside right now," he stated.
Shit. s**t. s**t.
"Alpha, with all due respect, I know these woods better than anyone. Should a threat appear, I am more than capable of running and hiding to ambush with advantage," Mira stated matter-of-factly.
"Mira-" Reiz started before Mira interrupted him. She was very ballsy today. I almost liked this new side of Mira.
"Please, Alpha. I just need a break from this house for a few minutes," she begged. And I was back to hating her guts.
"Okay, well, mind link me the second something feels out of place," he said, looking at her with sympathy in his eyes.
Ugh. Why was everyone in this pack so weak and sensitive? No wonder a smaller pack thought they stood a chance against us! All of our wolves behaved like common house dogs.
"I will, Alpha," Mira promised. Little did she know that she'd be injected with wolfsbane before she'd ever get the chance to mind link someone.
We started making our way to the door again when Fallon stepped into our path. Damn these Alphas!
"Mira, can we please talk?" He begged.
What kind of Alpha begs his Luna for anything? The same kind thats insecure enough to need her to call him "master" and broadcast their first time, apparently.
"I really don't want to talk to you right now, Fallon. I just need a little space for a few days, okay?" she whined.
"A few DAYS?" He asked incredulously.
"Yes, please," she stood firm.
"Whatever you wish, my Luna," he replied.
This was all working in my favor. If Fallon was going to be giving her space for a few days, he may not even notice her missing. I doubt that they'd expect her to continue doing all of the cooking now that she was known to be the next Luna.
Finally, we reached the door uninterrupted. I led Mira over to the spot I'd stashed my bags. The two enforcers jumped down from the roof, syringe already plunging into Mira's neck. They both shifted and I draped Mira's body over one of their backs. I grabbed my bags and dumped them on her body before climbing on behind her to hold everything on board, so to speak. This was almost too easy. The wolves started running at full speed, heading north. Soon, we were at the Northern border.
I started having second thoughts all of a sudden.
Are you really about to sell our Luna to a couple of enforcers you don't know and go rogue? my wolf asked me.
This pack has never done anything for me. They got my family killed. Now they can know what it feels like to lose someone they love. I replied.
My wolf retreated into my mind.We crossed the border. There was no turning back now. I was a rogue.
