Back in the room, I was curled up beside Aiden, the warmth of his body lulling me into a food coma. The bed was soft, scented like him, and for once, everything felt peaceful. Until it didn’t. Nothing, and I mean nothing, prepared me for the war that began in my stomach that night. A subtle gurgle in my stomach warned me like the distant sound of war drums. I ignored it.
