“Hurry up Ally, I have a surprise for you” my stepfather called me.
I froze in my tracks, and blinked severally. Did I hear well? I asked myself ? Did my stepfather just call out to me jovially?
Shocked to my bone, I glanced in his direction, and I was further shocked when I saw a big smile was plastered huge on his face as he was beaming from ear to ear.
Heavens come down to save me!
An abomination just happened!
Mr Mcstar Campbell is smiling at me!
I looked around to see if Jesus himself was holding a knife down his throat to make him do this.
But no! He was under no threat.
He is indeed smiling at me!
I contemplated whether to take this as a good sign or a bad one. Because not in the history of this house has the man ever been happy with me.
He had tried to be cordial when my mom was there, but he had been nothing but wicked to me since she went missing.
I totally fear the reason for his sudden change of attitude.
Could it be as a result of what happened yesterday?
Last night had been a humbling event for him when the hefty man came.
Is he about to tell me we are moving to the streets now?
My mind kept reeling as I thought of multiple reasons.
Still, I wasn’t able to reach a conclusion. I shrugged and returned his smile with a worried frown.
He climbed the stairs to give me a very beautiful long red dress.
I stared at the dress, then his face and back at the dress.
I almost refused and went back in.
As I opened my mouth to say, No, thank you, I don’t need a dress from you.
He dropped it on my lap.
“You should get dressed, Allison. We are going out to dinner. The beautiful dress would suit you well. My stepfather said and hurriedly left. I could see tight lines forming around the corner of his lips indicating his smile was forced, it didn’t even reach his eyes.
What in seven hell is happening?
That smile!
This dress!
A dinner!
They all spell trouble for me.
In capital letters!

“How are you feeling now, I hope you are satisfied with the steak?my stepfather grinned, showing his disgusting yellow teeth.
I only hope he didn’t tell the waitress to poison me because his sudden generosity cannot be accounted for.
“Yes, thank you” I replied coldly.
“Now we can go”, he grabbed my wheel handle and turned on my back and wheeled me down the road.
I haven’t looked this good in centuries! The red dress fit perfectly and hugged me to my hip bones.
“I only wish I had a more slender figure like all the models in the TV show.
We saw fewer people as we moved down the road, although I’m not very familiar with this side of the town, but as soon as I started seeing the huge forest down town I knew we weren’t going home.
I panicked. My heart skipped twice its normal rate, but I put up a strong face. I didn’t want my stepfather to notice I was scared.
I turned to face him and his eyes were calculating with sinister. The fake smile he plastered is gone.
Then and there I knew the trouble I spelled earlier in capitals was now changed to Danger!
“This is not the road to the house”, I said tactfully.
“What do you mean? It is whatever I say it is” he replied coldly.
Okay, good, wonderful, I knew something was not right.
This man is going to drop me in the forest for vultures to feed.
That steak was my last supper!
He plans to drop me alone helplessly in the forest.
My mind snapped back to reality when I heard a howling sound deep in the woods.
I snapped in my chair as I looked into the distant tall building.
That is the hunted house!
I couldn’t contain my fear anymore. Beads of sweat crowded my forehead.
What are we going to do in the hunted house!
The stories that surround that place are those of blood and flesh, like battles in the Victorian cast.
My heart skipped as my stepfather opened the entrance, the door creaked and echoed throughout the room.
It was a very dark room. No sign of humans.
I heard my stepfather announce.
“This is the virgin you asked for”.
A dark feminine voice answered from behind the curtains.
“Leave her in there and go.
He quickly carried me, put me on the tall wooden chair and left with my wheelchair.
I opened my mouth to scream, but he covered it with his palm while he tied a rope on my hands first then my mouth.
I couldn’t fight any longer and I couldn’t move. The tears gathered in my eyes and started to spill, mucus dripped from my nose. I looked at Mr Campbell as he departed and wondered what I had done to deserve such from him.
I don’t know why he tied me up here, but he had called me a virgin earlier.
My eyes widened in fear. Am I going to be rapped?
The smell of flowers and apples filled my nostrils as the most fearsome woman I ever saw appeared. She is clothed in black robe her nails and eyes were also black.
She looks like the devil in a woman.
She moved close to me and whispered in my ear.
“Do not be afraid young girl, this will be over soon.”
She stroked my hair and my wet cheek.
“Do not cry, do not fret, do not be afraid little one.”
Her words sounded comforting, it would have calmed me down if she wasn’t clothed like the devil.
Her gentle hands stroked my back and I began to calm down. I looked into her eyes and she opened her long fangs. My violet eyes popped as the shock hit me. She sank them into the soft vein in my neck, my blood flowing down my breast.
My fingers clenched and unclenched as the sharp pain pierced down my whole body. All the cells in my body suddenly jolted. My bones joined and disjoint at the same time. I feel like my brain is starting all over.
Suddenly she grabbed her throat as though my blood is burning it. She looked at me and screamed.
“You!
Struggling to keep my eyes open, but they betray me. They fluttered slowly as I heard a loud bang on the floor. A corner of my brain tells me I have fallen down like the hero that I was.
Another part of my brain told me I was dead.
The last part of my brain told me that I am a Reborn!
I only slowly whispered “June”——My mother’s name.
