Love Beneath the Lies

CHAPTER TWO

A few weeks later, she returned to her own house. Zandra sometimes visits her parents' house. Early in the morning, Zandra received an emergency meeting in the organization. While driving on her way, she quickly changed her outfit and put on her red lipstick and tied her hair in a bun. She placed her eyeglasses in her bag. The vehicle passed through dense forest before reaching the destination. She was welcomed by a huge wall. Zandra tapped her ID on the system and suddenly the big wall opened. The heels of her boots made a noise in the silent hallway. When she arrived at the main hall, she was immediately greeted by the staff there. She was greeted by a woman wearing a formal suit with a pin on the side of her dress symbolizing that she was part of the organization. Everyone in the organization has a pin to identify them.

Shadowside Agents Organization is a top agent organization with highly skilled agents and assassins. It is part of the underworld business. It was led by the top boss known as Dark Zeus. The number one rule of the organization is not to disclose their personal identity, as each agent has their own code name that will determine their identity in the organization.

Zandra, also known as Agent Artemis, is the top 1 ranked in the organization. She's been giving service for 2 years, yet she is already at the top, which causes the other agents to envy her.

"Agent A, they have been waiting for you in the meeting hall." The lady in black informed her.

She nodded and walked her way to the meeting hall. The sliding door automatically opens as she enters. Everyone looked at her when she entered. Others even rolled their eyes.

"I'm sorry for the delay. You informed me late about this meeting" she casually said, and sat on her chair.

A lady in a formal suit, Lady Eve, the one who manages their missions and the agents, is second in the high position. She sighed and formally stood in front of the screen.

"Good morning, agents. My apology if we informed you late about this meeting. Dark Zeus wants to inform you about the new case and to congratulate on the success of agent Artemis in her last mission." she started. "This new case is about a Chinese business tycoon who's involved in gambling and child trafficking. She visited the Philippines more often because of his partnership with Hilton."

It is a big case since it involves big families. Every agent wants to grab this kind of opportunity.

"The mission is to kill Mr. Emmanuel Chua. It is a little bit difficult because he is protected by trained guards. He is very safe, and he does not leave his guard down. Mr. Chua is also a cunning and alert person, so it's not easy to deal with him. But the most important thing is to get their family heirloom, the Jade Dragon, which costs seven billion." Lady Eve added. All agents want to get this mission because of the amount of money they can get.

At the end, the mission was given to Agent Dara. Zandra didn't bother with that mission anymore because she planned to rest first. She was not interested in that case either. After an hour of meeting, Lady Eve adjourned the meeting. Zandra was about to leave when she was suddenly flanked by agent blue, her mortal enemy.

"Congratulations on your success in the last mission." She said with an arrogant smile on her face. Zandra ignored her. "Wait, I'm still talking to you. Don't be so rude." She said, sounding annoyed.

Zandra heavily sighed and faced her. "I don't have time to deal with your childish act. You think I don't know that you almost sabotaged my mission. If you really want to ruin me, make it harder!" Zandra said, and turned away from her. Agent blue was left clenching her fist because of annoyance. She really hated Zandra's guts. Meanwhile, Zandra didn't mind her at all, she knew she was really mad at her.

While walking out, she received a call from her mom. She immediately answered. "Yes, mama?"

"Where are you? I'm at your resto, but you're not here." her mom answered.

"What are you doing there? Anyway, I'm on my way there. I just went to see something important." Zandra quickly started the car. When she got to the highway, she parked it first and quickly removed her lipstick and hair tie. She first made sure there were no passing cars before dressing in her causal clothes. When she finished, she quickly stepped on the accelerator and sped off.

When she arrived at the restaurant, she was immediately greeted by her mother. Zandra immediately asked the reason why her mother visited the restaurant. "Well, I just want to check your business and Charles." Grace answered. Zandra frowned because she knew there was more reason why she had come here. Grace sighed. "Okay, we will have a family dinner later, and we will talk about something important, so you should be there."

"About what?" Zandra asked.

"Justo go. Anyway, come with me to the mall and let's buy new clothes." her mom excitedly uttered. Zandra just stared at her mother's sudden invitation and did nothing but send her wherever she was taken.

They went around the mall and shopped for clothes. Zandra could only hold her breath because of the amount of clothes her mom bought for her. Others are not her type, or they don't like the color. There was nothing she could do but obey and agree with her mother's wishes.

"OMG! Jade, look at this dress, I think it will suit you. Try it." Grace said and showed off a backless red dress with a big slit on the side.

"Ma, that's not even my style." she exclaimed. Zandra wouldn't dare to wear that kind of dress. It's far from her liking. But it still forced her to buy it for her.

Zandra's hand was almost full of paper bags from the amount of shopping her mom bought. She is also sure that she can't wear all of these because her mother bought her only revealing clothes and very high heels. She doesn't blame her mom because she knows this is her way for them to bond. Her mom is not very expressive, so sometimes she passes her expensive things. She couldn't thank her mom enough for all the things she had done for her and for her father. One of the reasons why she joined the organization was to protect her family. She could do and sacrifice everything for the safety of her loved ones.

While in the car, they were suddenly ambushed by armed men in a van. They suddenly bent down when the men suddenly opened fire. The vehicle they were in lost control and crashed into a pole. Grace lost consciousness due to the force of the impact. Zandra's eyes widened. The armed men were already in front of her. She was breathing deeply and there was fear in her heart because she didn't have a gun or anything that could protect them. She thought they were going to be shot, but they just left a paper and left.

While in the hospital, her hands were shaking. She was afraid of what might happen to her mother. When the mother regained consciousness, she suddenly hugged her. Grace heard her little sobs and at that moment she knew that she was scared.

"Shh, I'm now fine. How about you? Did they harm you?" Grace worriedly said, checking her up.

Zandra shook her head. "I'm fine, ma. I'm more worried about you. You scare me." Grace smiled and wiped her tears. She assured us that everything was fine.

Because of what happened, there was a growing fear in Zandra because something bad might happen to her family, but besides that, her heart flared up with anger towards the people who were in arrears with her. She will make sure they pay for the sins they have committed.
