Elias lay on his back, staring at the ceiling, his mind refusing to rest.
One eye. A soft laugh. A face he couldn’t fully see.
The memory hovered just out of reach, like a dream dissolving at sunrise.
Why is her face always blurry? he wondered, pressing his palm against his temple. Why can I hear her laugh, feel her presence, but can’t remember her?
He sat up slowly, his chest tight, his thoughts chaotic.
Rose shifted beside him, her blonde hair spilling over the pillow. She had been scrolling through her phone when he entered the room earlier, smiling when she saw him.
“Babe, you’re back,” she had said, her voice warm. She had dropped her phone and walked toward him, wrapping her arms around his neck, trying to kiss him.
But he had stiffened.
“I’m tired,” he had muttered, gently pulling away. “I just want to sleep.”
He hadn’t missed the slight hurt in her eyes.
Now, she turned toward him in bed, sliding closer, her fingers tracing his chest. “You’ve been distant,” she murmured. “Is something wrong?”
He swallowed. “Just work.”
She studied him for a moment, then nodded. “Okay. But don’t shut me out, Elias.”
He turned off the bedside lamp and closed his eyes.
Rose stared at him, feeling horny
It's been long since they had s*x, she wanted to touch him to feel him again.
Rose lips brushed his jaw, then his mouth. The thoughts taking Elias attention melted away as Rose lips touched his.
He kissed her back, slowly at first, then deeper, his hands palmed Rose B cup Breast
“f**k Elias” Rose moaned as Elias tongue rolled over her sensitive n*****s, she slipped her hands into her dark brown hair he dyed black.
After having enough of her breast, he stared at her red lips, he took her lips in his, Closing his eyes
He opened his eyes.
Blue eyes were gone.
Dark brown eyes stared back at him.
His heart stopped.
He jerked away, gasping, his chest burning like it was on fire.
Rose blinked, startled. “Elias? What’s wrong?”
He sat up, breathing hard, his hand gripping the sheets. “Nothing. I just… I need water.”
She frowned. “You’re acting strange.”
He forced a smile. “I’m fine.”
But he wasn’t, the attraction he felt towards Rose gone in a blink
He could still see those brown eyes.
He could still feel the way they looked at him like she knew him.
Like she was his.
Across the Room, Olivia stared at the ceiling, sleep refusing to come
Elias’s voice echoed in her mind.
Why do I feel like I know you?
Her heart clenched at the memory.
She rolled onto her side, staring at her sleeping son. His lashes fluttered slightly as he turned in his sleep. She brushed her thumb over his cheek, smiling sadly.
“Your father would have loved you so much,” she whispered.
Then Elias’s face intruded again.
Why did he look so much like Adam?
Why did her heart react like it had recognized him?
She pressed her hand against her chest, trying to calm the storm inside her.
He is not Adam. He is not your husband. He is your sister’s fiancé.
Breakfast was quiet.
Olivia entered the dining room with her son, greeting everyone with a polite smile. Elias sat across the table, scrolling through his phone.
“Good morning,” she said softly.
“Good morning” Elias said in a cold tone not bothering to raise his head up
He didn’t look up.
Her son tugged her hand. “Mama, we are almost late”
She forced a laugh. “Okay, sweetheart.”
But the silence felt deliberate.
Rose chatted happily, unaware of the tension.
“Elias, I have a meeting today. Don’t forget we’re seeing the wedding planner later,” she said.
“Okay,” he replied smiling at Rose, still not looking at Olivia.
Olivia felt a strange sting in her chest.
At the Fashion Hub
The studio buzzed with activity.
Models walked around, designers shouted instructions, fabrics hung everywhere.
Olivia stood beside Elias, holding a clipboard.
“Can you help me get that fabric roll?” she asked, pointing to a high shelf.
He glanced at it, then turned away. “Ask someone else at quite busy here miss Olivia.” he said while hw continued fixing his stuff ignoring Olivia
Olivia felt ignored, her eyes blurred
She went to her office
Her fingers tightened around the clipboard.
She walked to the coffee machine later and found him there. “Morning coffee run?” she joked lightly, trying to ease the tension between them.
He grabbed his cup and walked past her without answering.
Her stomach twisted.
Later, Olivia secretary a young woman with curly hair—ran toward him and hugged him excitedly. “ Hi Elias” she ran to hug him
He froze, then returned the hug politely.
Olivia watched from across the room, her jaw tightening.
She felt jealous
She should be feeling jealous they weren't friends neither were they lovers
In Elias's office his phone rang.
“Bro! I’m back in Australia!” Samuel shouted through the speaker. “We’re hanging out tonight. I missed you, man!”
Elias smiled for the first time that day. “You’re already here?”
“Yeah! And I heard Australian girls are insanely hot. I’m about to wreck this city with my dick.”
Elias laughed. “You’re still the same don't you have work at Rome.”
“ f*****g hell Elias my secretary will take care of the work, Meet me at the bar tonight. Bring your fiancée if you want”
Elias stiffened. “Don’t be stupid, you aren't flirting with my fiance.”
But Samuel just laughed “Nahh man, i wouldn't steal your fiance”
Olivia stared at the pencil in her hand she couldn't concentrate, trying to figure out what she did that made Elias behave strangely
Her phone buzzed with a text
Catherine: Babe let's go clubbing tonight am bored
She stared at the text contemplating, if she would go or not
Olivia: alright text me the address
Olivia stood in front of her mirror that evening, staring at her reflection.
Her son was already asleep. Catherine had agreed to babysit.
She took a deep breath and changed into a midnight-black dress that hugged her curves, her back exposed, her hair cascading over her shoulders.
I need to get him out of my head, she thought. He is not my Adam. He never will be.
She grabbed her purse and headed out.
The bar was loud, lights flashing, music vibrating through the floor.
Elias sat at the counter with Samuel, sipping whiskey.
“It's good to see you man” Samuel winked at Elias, making Elias glare at him
Elias continued drinking
“The girls here are very hot” Samuel glanced around until a lady caught his interest
“Look at that chick over there,” Samuel whispered, nudging him.
Elias glanced at the lady nit interested but he looked again because the hair seems familiar
Midnight-black hair. Exposed back. Familiar posture.
Olivia.
Their eyes met across the crowded bar, when Olivia laughed
Her lips curved into a slow, deliberate smile.
And for the first time in days, Elias’s heart lost control
