Scent of Raindrops Chapter 3 niniamaria I got home still thinking about that crazy interaction I had with that oddly breed man. After I dropped my bag on the couch, I immediately went to Milly. Music is my comfort and I always talk to Milly about everything. ‘Oh, Milly.. I met him again.’ I found myself zoning out for almost 20 minutes till I finally press the keys on Milly and worked on my unfinished songs. Then, I decided to get to my bedroom and fell asleep there. I woke up and pressed my alarm clock on the bed side table. This clock was gifted to me. Turns out pretty useful for a disable being like me. ‘6:00pm’ I took a sigh of disappointment as I heard the time. I over napped again. There is this point in my daily life where I would cry because I’m unsatisfied and disappointed with myself and my progress in life. I felt like everything I do won’t be enough. I wiped off my tears and walked towards Milly again. ‘Hi old girl. Let’s go to paradise, shall we?’ I played and played for hours to the point where I couldn’t feel anything else but the sensation of music crawling into my skin, carving into my bones, and devouring my soul as I hear every note it makes as I pressed my fingers towards the keys. It’s like flowing into the ocean waves and letting the melody drag me in any shores it takes me. I could go for hours and hours explaining how music lives in me and it still wouldn’t be enough to fully express how music became a part of me. I woke up the next day hearing my stomach growl. I fell asleep on Milly last night without eating any meal for the entire day and now I feel terrible. I should go and get some food. I’m too much of a mess to get dressed and make my way battling with the busy streets again. It seems sunny today though. I left my window opened since yesterday. I hear birds and traffic and people walking differently with the sounds they make as they step. I call them; happy steps, sad steps, stress steps, and rushing steps. I don’t know what time it is now but I guess it’s a pretty rush hour for everyone. While getting entertained by the steps I’m hearing, I suddenly remember I could just order some food. I don’t remember where I left my phone.. it could be in my bedroom. I slowly walked towards there and carefully tapped my belongings to figure out where my bed is. I’m more extra careful because I don’t want to break some of my things. After a few minutes of tapping and caressing my things, I finally found my phone. I made a phone call for a pizza delivery. It should be here in atleast 30 minutes. For the mean time while I wait, I should take a shower and do my laundry. I love to multitask as long as I can so I could save much of my time for the day. Before I hope into shower, I putted my dirty clothes in the washing machine. It took me atleast 20 minutes to shower and get dressed and transfer my laundry into the dryer. After all that, I waited for the pizza delivery that took longer than I expected. And since I’m bored and hungry, I decided to sit and wait near my door and wait for someone to knock and say one of the most beautiful phrase in the world and that is ‘Your pizza delivery is here.’ I waited and waited till I finally heard a familiar footsteps sound and it stopped in front of my door. Then I heard someone knocked. I immediately opened the door and expected to hear a delivery personnel to speak…..yet no. I heard someone else. And I smell him. ‘Goodmorning, sunglass!’ This i***t. ‘What could you possibly be doing here?’ He smells so enchanting. ‘Good question, sunglass. By the way you look so beautiful without it. You go girl! Love your eyes!’ H-ha? Did he actually just said that? How can he just casually tell people that he thinks they’re beautiful? This man is so unbelievable. And how can he be just so chilled appearing on people’s door? ‘What are you talking about and why the heck you’re here?’ I asked. ‘Okay, don’t get mad?’ he said. And now I’m interested to what he’s going to say. ‘Tell me now or I’ll call the police.’ I calmly said but with a little bit of threat. ‘Okay, sunglass. I’m gonna need you to calm dowm. You ready?’ ‘NOW!’ I raised my voice. ‘We’re neighbors!’ he said. It took me seconds to fully comprehend and realized what he said. It echoed in my head like crazy. Then it hits…. ‘You moron! Have you been stalking me?! What do you want from me?!’ ‘ Uhm..’ ‘Say a thing and I’ll fill your mouth with cement!” I threatened him. ‘Wait, how am I gonna answer you then? That’s so unfair, why are you so dedicated about the cement? Have you done that? That’s a criminal offense, sunglass. Why do you do that?’ he’s being so loud as I dragged him out my front door. ‘The next time I hear you in front of my door, I’m gonna do that for real!’ I said as I continued to drag him. ‘Where are you even taking me, sunglass!?’ I have no I dea… ‘This is k********g-----’ ‘Are you guys Mr. and Mrs. Buenaventura?’ both our attention was moved to the guy who just spoke. ‘Who are you? Ohhh..pizza ? You ordered pizza, sunglass?’ I let go of grabbing his arm. The delivery guy might think I’m harassing this man. Wait what? He’s the one stalking me! And Mr. and Mrs.?! ‘Ms. Buenaventura.’ I corrected. ‘Oh, I apologize for the delay with your pizza ma’am.’ ‘It’s okay. Here…Thank you.’ I said as I gave the payment. ‘Pizza sounds good, sunglass!’ he said as I started walking back to my room. Obviously, he’s tailing me again. Calm down, Eliza. That’s right. Be kind and patient. ‘Uhm, lemme hold it for you----OUCH!!!” he screamed as I slap his hand off my pizza box. ‘Stop following me and go back to where you live!’ I know I started to sound so irritated now. ‘Uhm…I live where you live, sunglass.’ He said. ‘Oh yeah? Because we’re each other’s home?!’ I madly replied. I’m not falling for his stupid line again. He got silent and it made me stopped walking because I realized maybe my interpretation was wrong. And I was right. Here he goes burst out laughing like there’s no tomorrow. This is so embarrassing. Please God of earth, make me vanish! ‘Shut up..’ I said to him. He then laughed more louder and louder that I could tell his probably holding his stomach right now. ‘It’s not that funny!!!’ ‘Okay okay okay!!!’ he finally decided to stop laughing. I can’t see myself right now but I know I’m red due to total embarrassment. ‘That’s unbelievably coming from you, sunglass. Sweet tho. I could tell you’re a poet.’ He said. ‘Well, just tell me what do you want from me and why are you here or else I’m really gonna call the police on you!’ ‘I told you, sunglass. I live next to you.’ I noticed him stepping closer towards me. ‘And that day at the pedestrian lane was the first time you noticed me but I’ve known you before then. ‘ More questions were written into my mind. But all I can feel is confusion. Why am I nervous yet feeling safe at the same time? His voice matches the way how he smells. His energy irritates me but also captures my curiosity to hear him more and the words that he says. How can he be so playful yet genuine at the same time? He knows exactly what to say and he says it beautifully. And everytime I smell him, I think of raindrops more differently than how I used to see and remember it. He’s so mysterious and graceful…just like raindrops. niniamaria Scent of Raindrops
