I watched the princess go...or Bella as she insisted I call her. I am still in disbelief that she wants my desserts at the ball. Maybe I’ll be able to help my dad and fix the roof. I still can’t believe my desserts will be at the ball. I sigh as I remember Bella will be forced to choose a husband, she seems like she has so much she wants to do, things I can help her with. I smile at the thought of being with her. I shake the thought from my head, locks of hair falling in my face. Me hanging with the princess could never happen. I look up as I hear someone walk up to the counter. I put on a smile and help them with their purchase. I look at the time and realize it’s late so I need to get back to dad, and make sure he’s okay and feeling better. The doctors tell me he’s not getting better but I know there is still a chance he’ll get better. I have to believe, I’m all he has left.
I make it home later than I want to, hoping dad is awake, but he’s not. I find him sleeping on the couch. I bend down and kiss his forehead.
“Get better soon dad.” I whisper.
I set my bag down and start making a meal. I hear a cough in the other room, and go to make sure dad’s okay.
“Hey son.” My Dad says crokly. “How was work.”
I smile at him.
“Well it was good, the princess decided to buy some desserts for the ball.”
I remember how she looked, and how she wasn’t snobby like others are.
Dad looks at me and smiles.
“That’s great, I have some good news. I got some people to come and help around here, I’m hopping to marry the woman. She has two chil-“
Dad falls asleep before he can finish.
“Love you, dad.” I whisper.
I really don’t want dad to marry anyone, but if he thinks it’ll help then I can cope with it. I notice the time is getting late, and I know I have an early day tomorrow, so decide it’s time for bed. I fall asleep thinking about the princess.
