Finally out! I thought as I exited the metro station. I take a deep breath but my lungs fill with carbon dioxide from the cars and I nearly choke. Pollution is everywhere. We walk along the Strand and I look around me and discover the historical monument, Nelson’s Column, a symbol of victory at the Battle of Trafalgar, right in the middle of the square. Jacky takes out his mobile phone and immortalizes the scene without asking my permission. The flash dazzles me. “Hey... You could warn me!” “Your expression is amazing. You look like a kid in front of a candy store.” “Well, excuse me for looking like a kid!” I say, a bit annoyed. “That wasn’t a reproach. Look… You look amazing in the photo.” If that’s not a complaint, I take it it’s a compliment. I hope we don’t play cat and mouse too
