Chapter 5

4315 Words
Antonio's POV  "Sir, we need to talk."  "Please... come in." I answered while I listened to Alexander on the outside of my door. I listened to the door open to my office open and the clearing of the young mans throat.  "My Lord. I looked into that matter dealing with the girls father and I found out something interesting. Something that... I believe she should tell you first."  I always took into consideration of the words he spoke to me. He came from a family who's heart was always in the right place. I turned to face him and he looked like he just witnessed the most saddest thing on the planet.  "How bad is it Alex?" "Not something that is simply shared with people she does not know sir. It was a tragic incident that have gotten worse until... in my opinion..until you have found her sir."  "Then rip it. Throw it away and make sure she does not know we went digging and make sure there is no evidence to be found. I will just learn this information in the future."  "Do you believe things will go, the way you have intended sir?" "I pray for it to happen... Is there anything else to share?" "There is movement in the neighboring country... My Lord."  "Interesting... Thank you Alex. Oh before I forget... I need a favor. "  I listened for his footsteps to get further toward the door and then I listened to the door to close. I sighed and looked toward the window. I needed to get to work but my assistant was... busy with her rearrangements.  Amelia's POV  "Place that over there. You sir, please be careful with that. Oh, and you, hang that on the wall... nice and neat. I definitely do not like things looking sloppy. Especially in my own room."  I was all over the place making sure everything that was bought was getting put away right now. I knew I was suppose to be busy but once I woke up and realized we were back at the house, and it was the next day. I must have slept through the night. I got to work immediately with getting some men to help me with my room. I do like that my room is more... me in a way. I have placed my mark on this room. It has only been a couple of days since I been here but still. I think it was best for me to get comfortable. I do plan on taking all of this when I move into my own home and away from the Lord.  My i***t and pathetic sperm donor may have bought me but I will never just have my freedom taken from me. I was still having the guys rearrange my room when I heard a knock at the door. I turned around to see Antonio standing there with one leg crossed over the other. He was looking around the room and even to some of the guys in here who was helping me get the room together. I walked over to him and then turned to give out more directions to the others.  "It looks like you are making yourself at home." He said with a chuckle. "You know I most definitely am. I must thank you again for allowing me to get these things and I am grateful for the help of dealing with... those people who shall never be named." I said with a slight attitude at the end.  He nodded his head and fixed his posture to be standing straight up.  "Well... I know you are a little busy with this but I am afraid I must pull you away from this room and now get to the fact of your work and school. I am aware you have classes today... two to be exact. After that, the car will come for you to take you to work. I would like for you to be on time. So please... do hurry."  "Alright. I will go get ready for school. Thank you, I did not even notice the time." I watched him leave after nodding his head and I went to my bathroom to get ready for a shower.I looked at the men and told them that we will finish the remaining items when I come back to the house. I headed to the shower and took a relaxing, deep shower and even washed my hair to get them nice curls in. After I came out, I walked over to the dresser and pulled out my brand new Victoria Secret lace green underwear with the bra to match and went to find my off the shoulder sweater shirt with my black jeans. I went and found my sneakers and smiled at my outfit that was now laying on the bed. I went back into the bathroom and started to dry off my hair, letting the curls sit in my hair.  I got back to the room and got dressed and twirled all around looking at my new outfit in the mirror. I grabbed my bag, the new hand purse that can fit my laptop and books into and a separate book for when I go to work.  I left the room and raced to the front door where Antonio was waiting for me with a new man and Maurice by his side. I looked at the new one and he gave me a soft smile and held out his hand to me.  "Amelia, this is Alexander. He will be your personal guard while you are here. I prefer you to have one by your side while I am not near you. I am aware of the conditions of being watched so... I will make sure that he is out of your sight but still have eyes on you. Would that make you feel...comfortable?"  "Hi, I am Alexander. You may call me Alex for short." I took his hand and politely shook his hand. "Hi, I am Amelia."  "It will be a pleasure to work with you." "Likewise." I turned my attention to Antonio who nodded his head and then turned to leave the masion. We got into the same SUV that was parked in front of the mansion and drove off to the school. The campus was far from the mansion since the mansion was away from the city itself. I was listening to music, enjoying the view.  We arrived to the school and I hopped out along with Alex. I took a deep breath and looked over to Alex. He gave me a reassuring smile and I took it and began walking into campus. I turned back toward Alex who was no where in sight. i looked around a little figetting happening until one of my friends ran up to me with open arms.  "Amelia!"  "Steph!" I ran into her arms with open arms and we hugged it out for a few seconds.  "Where have you been? No calls or text. That's not like you. You alright?" "Yeah, just been hella busy. Things got crazy over at the sperm donors house along with that woman of his." I said as we started walking toward one of the campus buildings.  "Don't let it get to you. Look here, we graduate soon, and for the simple fact, with all the money you saved up, you are working on your way to moving out of there as quickly as possible. Just keep your head on straig. ht."  "I know and that's what I plan on doing. Do not have time for him to be screwing me over. What I missed though?"  "Don't worry, I got you covered."  She pulled out her notebook for me and I smiled with happiness. Each time we found out the other was going to be absent, we write notes from the class in a separate notebook so the other can continue to succeed. We both had it hard though which is why being absent was something we tried to avoid but sometimes couldn't no matter how hard we tried. At least we had each others back and didn't put each other down. Especially in this competitive school.  We headed off to our class along with getting something we could snack on while we were there. Class was interesting and the teacher never made it dull. I searched the windows and even looked outside to wonder where was Alex. Ever since I made it onto campus, I have not seen him or even felt the presence of being watched.  I tugged on my sleeve to have my shirt now covering the palm of my hand and sighed. I needed to get a grip and pay attention. I turned my attention back to the teacher and contiued to listen to the lecture being given.  By the time classes were over, I was seriously looking for lunch. My stomach was growling for something and it was starting to cause pain. The snacks I had did put the hunger at bay but food was needed immediately.  I was heading to the campus entrance when I noticed someone was behind me now. I stoppedand felt a small tap on the shoulder and turned to see Alex.  "There you are... where have you been? I thought you were suppose to be keeping an eye out for me."  "I have kept my word to do so. I was out of sight and out of your presence." "I kind of find that hard to believe at the moment."  Alex smiled and gave me the run down of everywhere I have been today. He only gave me time when it came to me moving to a new class so he could keep track of todays schedule. I stood there, I thought I would be creeped out about it but because I am aware that this is his job, I was only impressed with it. I nodded my head and gave him two thumbs up. As we continued to talk, a black SUV pulled up and Alex opened the door for me to enter. I saw there were papers on the back seat with my name on them. I started going through the files and getting a head start on the things I should and should not know about each company that Antonio was running. He sure did have a lot of business to keep track of. Now I see why he needs help.  In about 2 hours, I was dropped off at a large corporate building. Seemed just like a tall glass building on the outside that was... well... tall. I would at least say 14 storey high. My best guess give or take.  Alex escorted me inside and I first looked to the girl at the front desk. She was pretty distracted for me to say hello so I just continued toward the direction Alex was leading me in.  I was taken to the elevator and we got off on the 16th floor. Then we walked straight. The place was extremely quiet. It made me feel a little more relaxed than I thought it would. The booths that were lined up nicely so people had a clean walk way was s good environment as well.   I was led to the back where I am guessing Antonio's office was there so he would not cause attention to the others. It was a tinted glass office space for him, I guess he did not want people to be able to look in there and see if he was slacking or not.  Alex knocked three times before letting himself in and cleared his throat. I walked in behind him and the chair was turned the opposite way than it should be. Alex sighed and walked out of the office.  "Pleasee follow me, I believe the meeting has already begun," he said as he walked back toward the booth section of the office and then made a right. I followed, pulling a computer and a notebook, along with my favorite pen from my bag. I put my phone on silent mode so nothing could or would distract me.  From what one of the folders in the car has told me, if the chair in his office is turned in a certain direction then he is not in the room. The back facing the desk itself meant he was in a meeting, the right meant the rest room, the left meant he left his office to do his rounds and if the chair was facing the front and he was not in it then he left the office for good. Nice code without talking, shows who have good memory skills or not. The folder also said that if I were to come late to an office meeting, have the materials out for you to immediately get to work. Do not say nothing unless your hand is raised to speak or someone is speaking to you.  Alex approached another glass office but this time everything and everyone could be seen. Someone, a lady in perticular was giving a presentation on one of the companies listed in the folders. I pulled that folder out and quickly took a glance at the information of the people invested and all of the important details. Should really have this information on a computer though, it would be better for me to work with.  Alex gave three knocks to the door, opened it for me and whispered, "good luck." I nodded my head and went to the empty seat next to Antonio, who didn't even make eye contact with me. I opened my computer to the word document and quickly started paying attention.  The lady was talking about one of the companies that was selling body care products to others. She was saying if the sales does not go up then the company would officially die out and be lost for good. Juding by the expression of Antonio, he was not happy. I was interested in her idea to make the prices lower than before because they were kind of expensive and thinking about the shopping spree... oh s**t I went into this story on my shopping spree. I love their products. Makes the body feel alive. I did notice the prices were a little to expensive and the day I went, only a few people who looked to have no money problems were in there. I sat there thinking in my chair, dropping the prices would help increase sales, but because the products were being made from rare materials, the pricing had to be able enough to pay for the material. It would not add up so easily.  It was like me and a male, who was wearing a males suit, colored dark blue was thinking on the same page because literally he said exactly what I was thinking. Antonio chimed in on the conversation and then... a small uproar started to happen. I watched as people started talking over each other, one was trying to convince Antonio of an idea he had and then it all clicked together.  I raised my hand slowly and shrunk my body so it couldn't be seen. They were shouting to much to have realized Antonio put up his hand to stop them from talking. When they stopped talking, Antonio looked at me and I looked at him, cleared my throat and sighed. "Well.. uh... I can understand that changing the prices on the products is a huge risk. It cannot be officially done with the material being rare and expensive. However, the idea could still work, just not all the time."  No one said anything, all eyes were just staring at me and I started to feel the nerves starting to kick in immediately. I turned to Antonio and he nodded his head. I am guessing that was for me to continue. I tried to find my voice but it slowly was not coming out. I looked around then closed my eyes trying to put my brain in relax mode. It was not helping because I still knew their eyes were on me.  I listened for when a cup was placed in front of me and felt a small hand on my back. I opened my eyes and found Alex with a small smile on his face. I could tell that was him telling me to calm down.  I took the water and drunk the cup of water instantly. I looked back at everyone who was still facing my way. I had to respect the eye contact was real.  "My apologies. I really needed water. As I was stating, the idea could work, if you were to have a price drop sale. For this store, you never had a sale for it. All you need to do, is figure out what percentage of sale you need in order for more people to come in and shop, while also getting the amount of money needed to create more."  I could see the confusion and I stood up from my chair and headed over to the computer that was plug in for the presenter. I pulled up a spreadsheet and immediately started to do the math of which sale would be best in order to achieve the goal at hand. It made sense when I put it on the screen because now the eyes were no longer on me but on the computer.  After a few minutes, everyone was pleased with the results on the screen. I turned to get the approval and Antonio seemed to think it was a good idea and nodded his head. I guess that was the approval. Everyone left the office and the woman who was presenting, she shook my hand with delight. I smiled and looked at Antonio who was on the phone and walking out of the office. I left behind him taking notes of what he was saying as quickly as possible. Another thing he told me to do. If he was on the phone with me near him, I was to write down any information that I deemed well to write about.  We headed back to his office and I stood before his desk still writing down notes until he was off the phone. He looked at me and cleared his throat.  "Good job with the meeting. I was highly impressed with your skills."  "Thank you sir. I was... um... I still would like to apologize for the sudden black out. I was not used to something like that."  "It can get a little... nuts." "I can see... give me a few days and I will have it down packed to never let it happen again."  "I shall see. So your office is right next to mine. I will knock before entering. I will knock twice, others will knock once and Alex will knock three times."  "I figured you would say that."  "Yeah, he has his habits. Anyway, all the work for you today is in the room. Please... do get started. If there is anything you need, do not hesitate to ask. There is a door in your room as well so you do not always need to come through my door to get out."  "Thank you. I think I will be alright from here."  I headed to my office door on the hand side of me, near the window of his large office. I went in and got myself familiar with everything I needed to get familiar with. I I set up my desk, to be neat and for me to just grab what I needed when I needed, I set up my files to be put away in my desk and in a separate draw for when I need to search for something in the future, and even better, a bunch load of documents with name files were on the laptop when I needed it. There was a computer on the desk as well so I downloaded the files there too, but something told me I would need to work from home here and there. So this is just me being cautious.  After two weeks passed, I was completely warn out. I got months worth of work completed, filed and put away. I have been running around this office everyday for the past two weeks, my feet are killing me even though I have on sneakers. I have been in Antonio's office as well, telling him reports of buisness that needed to be paid close attention to because some of the workers are not doing their job, or just no showing up. Also numbers sales were not adding up with some of the restaurants he was doing, so someone needs to get out there. I did not realize this job was going to killing me the way it was. Luckily, I was getting the hang of it now. Two weeks does a job good to get used to.   I was sitting in my room now, it is now friday night. From Monday til now, I was balancing out everything. After work, I would get onto my studying for abit if I needed anything and completing my assignments. If there was an online test to be completed it def got completed. I was not slacking for nothing. My friend Steph was right. I needed to keep my head focus.  I was laying on the bed, it was close to midnight when I got an text message from Steph. She written the code 911 emergency. Usually when I got that message, that meant there was trouble at her house dealing with her parents that she could not handle by herself. Yeah it was putting me in harms way, and yeah she could have called the cops, but nothing changed the fact of when she called the cops, her parents made it seem like everything was okay and it was an accident call.  I quickly got dressed by throwing on some sweats and an off the shoulder sweater shirt along with some black running sneakers. I ran to the front door with my phone and looked at the guards who blocked the door and told me to stop.  "Where are you going?" The one on the right asked first.  "I need to go. Just for about... an hour or two. I will come back, and can you find Alex. I would prefer him to come with-" "Alex is not here right now. Alex is on a leave with the boss. Our orders were to keep you here at all cost."  "Then come with me to the location I am going to."  "Cannot do that. It is not in our orders." I looked at my beeping phone to see another message going off and sucked my teeth.  "Screw the f*****g orders!" I shouted while stomping my foot. I tried to push past them but like Maurice, they were built with freaking muscle. "Ugh you freaking stupid freaking guards in this house!" I stormed off and passed the same slut who always gives me an attitude in this house. I came back into my room and grabbed a small book bag I got from the shopping spree. I got my laptop and the chargers for my phone and the laptop itself. I took off my clothes and stuffed them into the bag and found an old white shirt and some shorts that were cut just below my knees to move around it. Where I was heading, I knew there was going to be running and crawling around. I took the book bag and placed it on my back. Went to the bed, fixed up the pillows to make it seem like I was in the bed sleep and went to my door. I opened it slowly and peaked out looking both ways. When the cost was clear, I took off to the backyard where the garden was.  In my time here, like I said I would be watching this place. Fridays was the day Antonio left to do... whatever he went to do and he would take Maurice with him. However tonight, he took Alex and Maurice. Which was different in my eyes. I noticed there was a trump card in his little guard territory. In the garden there is a whole in the fence. Large enough for someone like me to get through with a little cuts done here and there. I got to the garden, quickly threw my bookbag off my back and pushed it through the hole while I crawled behind it. Just like I knew, the gate cut my legs leaving little scratches. After I was out the hole and out of the mansions territory, I started to run to the city. I had a long way to go.  Antonio's POV I came back to the house. It was 2:00am. I went to visit one of the clubs I own to make sure business was good. I walked to my room and was told Amelia made a fuss about leaving a while ago. I shook my head thinking things were fine, but that was far from the truth. I know how her attitude could get so I waited for her to come yell at me like she normally did. About thirty mintues passed and I didn't hear anything. I thought she was just sleeping. I heard a knock on the door and went to open it when Maurice was standing there with an angered look on his face.  "Update?"  "Gone."  "Gone?" I asked starting to get angry.  "Gone sir."  "What the fu-"  "Listen there is something you need to hear as well. To your office please."  I stormed past Maurice and headed straight for my office. What the f**k was going on in the last couple of hours that I was away from this house!
