My life was simple and just like everyone else’s, but then one day it changed and, as a little girl of 11 I didn’t quite understand how one day someone could be there and the next ‘poof’ they're gone never to return. That’s what happened to me one day my silent friend was there and then next day he wasn’t that was when I stopped talking and it was still the same today. The sun had woken me earlier than I had wanted, and I so very nearly pulled the blanket back over my head and went back to sleep but the school handbook sitting next to my alarm had me rethinking my actions I had spent to long messing around on a web site designed to help young hackers hone their skills I had skills but they had just released an update on one of my favorite sites and I couldn’t help myself I needed to crack it, I did come close but this time it had beaten me but I would get it eventually. But that is how I came to be sat here at the kitchen table fully dressed and waiting for my twin to get back so we could head off for our last first day of school. I would usually take my motor bike, but my mom had insisted that we go together in my sister’s car. Rose was currently upstairs getting ready she had already been on her morning run, she had a nasty habit of waiting till the very last minute to do anything of importance and I had to generally just take it and wait for her, Thankfully I didn’t have too much longer to wait as she bounce into the kitchen followed by an over flowery smell, I was pretty sure bees mistook her for a flower most days but she still wore it so maybe her personality kept them from stinging her. Rose was the opposite to me when it came to looks and personalities, Rose was a classic beauty with short black hair that hit her shoulders and her sapphire blue eyes, her athletic build from her years of being on the cheer squad, where me I was thin and gangly with long platinum white hair that reached my waist and emerald, green eyes “ come on girls I want a picture before you go” my mom smiled she had my hair but my sisters eyes I did however get her plump lips too thankfully my father was the opposite in looks with his black hair and green eyes the color of moss he had a square jaw and thin lips which neither me or Rose got. Standing up and walking up to Rose she looked me up and down for a moment before sneering a little “seriously Frost are you going to wear that to school?” she asked judgment filling her eyes, looking down I saw nothing wrong with what I was wearing it was my standard, tight black jeans, white tank top with a leather under bust corset paired with my combat boots and a cropped leather jacket, all of which I knew for a fact where clean because mom had made sure to do all the laundry before we packed and moved with a roll of my eyes I turned towards my mother and made a rotation movement with my hand signaling her to hurry up and take the picture “ok, ok, one, two, three...” at the count of three a flash came from her phone almost blinding me and Rose but it was done “awe you look so beautiful.. Frost you could have smiled, but it’s a lovely picture” gushed my mother as she stared at her phone “ok mom we gotta go or we’ll be late, and I won't get a chance to check out the cheer squad” smiled my sister in her sweet voice as she grabbed my arm and started pulling me through the kitchen door “oh of course, have a good day girls” was called to our backs as Rose shoved me away from her so she could grab her bag from the couch. As I picked my bag up from next to the stairs my sister was already heading out the front door not saying a word but before I had chance to shut the door my sister was already inside her little pink mini and pulling out of the drive ‘she did that on purpose’ thought as i let out a sigh mom was going to be upset that we didn’t go together but she just didn’t realize that we were not her adorable little twins that did everything together anymore, ‘oh well it wasn’t like I really wanted to turn up in barbies spare care anyway’ a small smile creeped onto my face as I turned around and stomped back into the house heading for the coat closet where I had left my helmet “who’s that?” came my mom’s voice from the kitchen doorway, grabbing my helmet from the shelf and closing the closet door I heard a sigh “you was meant to be going to school in roses car today, did she forget again?” she asked looking slightly cross, I tapped to my head and made a sort of flying motion with a flick of my finger then a shrug, as I started doing a little cheer with my arms “oh yeah maybe it did slip her mind with her wanting to find out when tryouts are for cheer, ok just be careful on that thing will you” with a shake of her head she went back into the kitchen not waiting for me to nod or wave bye, smiling and shaking my head at how easily it is to keep my sister out of trouble, not that she would ever know that I did it for her often but I would definitely have to give her the heads up before she got home. Heading out to the garage to my bike I smiled at seeing it, it had been my dad's bike and I loved riding it. The shiny black Ducati V4R had been my father's pride and joy... After me and Rose, that is, he had saved up every spare dime he could over the years to just own one and when he passed away mom had given it to me, Rose had no interest in motorbikes and I often begged to ride on the back with my dad, even just for short trips to the store, so to mom it was only logical that I got it, putting the keys into the ignition, I would fasten my bag on me and put the helmet on making sure the strap was fastened tight under my chin, before swinging my leg over the seat and starting it. To me there was nothing more relaxing than hearing my bike’s engine as it came to life.
