CHAPTER
No matter how hard she tried, Margot couldn’t stop her hands from trembling. For a moment, she was afraid she was going to drop the receiver.
“Becky? Can you hear me?” Standing in the back of the plane, she stepped to the side to let the flight attendant with his pot of freshly-brewed coffee pass then gripped the receiver even more tightly. “Becky? Are you there?”
“It might have a short delay,” a second flight attendant explained, addressing Margot with large, sympathetic eyes.
“Mom?”
At the sound of her daughter’s voice, Margot felt like her legs would give out. “Baby, are you all right? Can you hear me? I’m here, baby. I’m flying to you. I’m going to be there so soon. Are you okay? Are they taking care of you?”
