CHAPTER Becky was so happy to see Xavier that it took her several moments to longer than it should have to realize he didn’t return her smile. He stood in the hotel hallway, glaring at her. Behind him, she thought she heard one of Donahue’s guard dogs snarling. “Xavier?” She said his name quietly, as if she didn’t quite believe that she was seeing him here. “Xavier?” she repeated, this time with a little more confidence.
