Saturday morning, only hours before the public arrived, everyone ran around putting last touches inside and out. Kim raked the red, orange, and brown leaves from the trail. Food vendors put products in their booths, Ward switched on the outdoor lights, and Elizabeth took one last walk through the spaces to ensure perfection.
Candy adorned a large round table in the entry foyer, strategically placed pumpkins started on the front steps, into the foyer, and down into the basement, the scavenger hunt set-up, and the photo backdrop installed. The scheduled speakers would deliver their presentations from the spider-webbed podium in the living room. Rows of folding chairs lined the room, and Knollwood Animal Shelter posters stood on easels on either side of the speaker area.
