Autumn was up by four AM to ensure her guests had what they needed. She and Chrissy saw lights under everyone’s doors, including Ray’s. Autumn picked up her little girl to give her a sense of security as they descended the stairs. The stair runner should arrive any day now, and then Chrissy could go down the steps on her own.
The smell of fresh-brewed coffee wafted from the kitchen. She let Chrissy out the kitchen door to relieve herself, keeping a careful watch to ensure no animals approached her. She chose a spot at the edge of the woods and came running back in.
