Chapter 2: Hunted

Middle of the night.

Catalina was still counting the money her Client left for her, when her phone rang, Ouch! It's her mother, it's been a long time.

Her work is so putrid and inconvenient, but at this moment...

She's indeed so elated and so she didn't hesitate to pick up the call.

However, it's so unfortunate that it wasn't her mom, dread filled her immediately as she yelled so much in pain when the irritating news reached her ear.

She can see herself swaying around the room, so baffled this moment.

Dread filled her and at same time, she's so infuriate, lying on the bed with tears in her eyes as she strangulate the bed cover.

"God! What sort of life is this? Am I born to a shattered life? Each time am haunted." After hanging up, she almost lost control.

"My mother... My own mother is in the hospital bed, in a critical condition..." She growled.

'Who am I going to for help? Who do I know?'

Her heart was filled with panic, no other option than going home now, then she rushed to that hospital, to see her own mom and know the condition she's into.

Few minutes later, Catalina got herself a cab and left for home, she need to see how her little brother is doing.

When she reached her home town she couldn't find her brother so she went straight to the hospital and paid off the driver.

She went inside and got the direction of the ward her mom is staying from the nurse in charge.

When she reached the door she twitched inside, she couldn't believe what she saw, her mom... is in a critical and crucial condition.

She stiffened in fear as tears rolled down her eyes.

Mrs Gloria William has never been sick this way, she won't call her mom fat but she's plump, fair and beautiful.

The plump woman she know is so thin, that fair woman is now dark, that beautiful mother is in the sick bed. Sickness has changed her mom.

Catalina and her family's life has been miserable since her dad died in that accident, that awkward afternoon she was on her way back from school, that day she would call herself a high school graduate... that day she thought would be surrounded by joy turned to be a day of filling with sorrow.

They lost him and everything changed, this is how her dream collapsed and she turned to be a prostitute and her brothers dream quenched too.

The thought of her brother made her turn to see him sobbing, his eyes are reddish and puffy already.

No further education, no hope, no where to go... so I went to my friend Lilian for shelter at that time.

"Is that why you are crying, there are many alternatives dear, you go out there, make money with what you have." Evelyn answered her when she explained all her problems to her.

Catalina resisted at first but fell to her words at last.

Catalina's thoughts interrupted with a "squeaky" voice.

The door opened and it was the doctor, Catalina gave him a glance and went straight to sit beside her mom.

She can't control her tears any longer, looking at her mom... who has loosed weight completely, breathing is so difficult for her.

Catalina wiped away the tears rolling down her cheeks and looked up to get the doctor staring at her.

"You must be the daughter of Mrs Gloria William right?" He asked in a low tone.

"Yes I am, doctor what's wrong with my mom? What kept her this way?" Catalina asked the doctor, sobbing.

"I need to see you in my office." The doctor said and Catalina followed him instantly.

The doctor got into his office and offered Catalina a seat and she sat opposite him, her eyes are swollen already and she feels a slight headache.

"You're welcome again Miss, what's your name?" The doctor asked her.

"I'm CatalinaWilliam," she replied scratching her head.

The doctor stared at her lustfully and licked his lips, he thought of pouring out his heart to Catalina but went against it.

Doctor CRUIZE is a type that sleeps with his nurses and with some ladies that comes to him for counseling or for some other reasons.

***He made out his time to admire Olivia and wished she had her already...

'I haven't seen a lady gorgeous like her, having her will look sweet... Looking at her, she will taste delicious.' He had thought to himself.

"Miss Catalina, your mom has what's called renal disease and if not treated on time, it might reach the end stage." The doctor explained.

Catalina adjusted on her seat.

The doctor sighed and said, "Renal disease relates and affects the kidney and if not taken time can lead to death when it reaches the end-stage."

Catalina widened her eyes at what the doctor said, she trembled in fear, muttered, "Renal disease."

"It's high time she has been suffering from it, weren't you aware?" The doctor asked.

She tried many times to blink back the tears in her eyes but it ran down her cheeks uncontrollably.

"Miss Catalina, try to comport yourself; you will be fine if treatment is administered appropriately." The doctor tried comforting her.

"So how much will it cost to start the treatment? Please doctor, I don't want to loose my mom." She almost begged.

"We've started treatment already, but you need to pay in at least a $1000 out of $4000 as it stands."

$1000...

Yes she got it! Her client, Leo, left her money!

She brought out the money, counted it and it was exactly $1000 and it made her a bit relieved, so she left to the doctors office to pay the bill.

Catalina exchanged pleasantries with the doctor and assured him of making payments accordingly .

She stayed with her mom and brother for a very long time, and then decided to leave. Lots of things are running on her head, she needs to get matters solved.

The remaining $100 in handbag really helped her out, she brought out $50 out of it and handed it over to his brother.

"I will always check on the both of you, I need to run around and get the bills paid, take good care of yourself and mom, and don't hesitate to let me know of something you can't handle." She stated to her brother before she left.

Stepping out of the hospital, now all she needed to think about was how to get the rest of the $3,000..

Catalina grabbed Leo's business card out of her handbag...

Yes, he's her wealthy client. She thought she would never contact him, but look at now..
