I stood still, staring at her as if I hadn’t heard correctly.
“Good morning, Vera,” Catelina said with a soft smile, her voice unusually warm.
That caught me off guard.
Of all the people in this mansion, she was one of the last I expected to greet me kindly—especially with a smile. She was always distant, formal, and rarely ever looked my way unless it was to frown. This sudden change? It didn’t make sense.
Still, I returned the greeting. She was Alpha Gideon’s sister, after all—my sister-in-law. Whether we got along or not, there was no harm in being polite.
“Good morning, Cat,” I replied, shortening her name casually.
