CHAPTER 2

“Move on the other branch slowly” We were still in the tree and eyeing the people below with severe curiosity.

The dawn sun rays already greeted the leaves. The people below were still dancing.

Akio assisted me in moving from the other branch since we already became sweaty as time passes by. Not only because of our closeness but also we were holding and standing for quite a long time.

“Akio, maybe they are just really from a different tribe” Their appearance were the same at some tribes here. I was listening to their language that might give us some clue as well of their identity but they were not talking. They just continue in dancing.

“Let’s get out of here” Akio said.

“O-okay” I’m having a hard time in stepping because of my worn shoes.

I saw Akio glanced at it so I hastily stepped down to keep him from eyeing it.

But I did not expect that my right foot will slip! Before Akio could cover my mouth, my scream echoed.

Our eyes both grew wide as we immediately glanced below. The hair on my nape stood as I shivered. Two man looked up on us showing their peculiar teeth. All of their teeth were shaped in a V. It were as if being sharpened and purposely deformed to make it in that shape. I shivered more as they stuck out their tongue! It reached in the middle of their chest!

I came back from reverie as Akio grabbed me harshly.

“Don’t you dare to echo your sobs as well!”

I wriggled on his hold as I felt every scratch of the dried twigs.

My knees were shaking that I can’t make my moves quick.

“Hey, come on. We’ll jump”

I nervously shook my head a lot. I can still remember the eyes of that men! Their teeth, their tongue!

“Mikaza!”

Akio pulled his hair frustratingly as he saw me crying.

“We’ll jump. Okay? They might chase us now”

I nod unconsciously.

“I’ll go first”

By that my tears flowed like falls.

“N-no! I’ll come with you! Please Akio, d-don’t leave me here”

He hissed furiously.

I did not feel the surrounding for a few moments not until we both groaned as we fell on the ground.

Akio got up rapidly.

He did not bother to lend me his hand.

“Your tears will push you to your death”

I wiped my tears and the dust in my clothes.

“Thank you A-akio”

“Wipe your tears and go home now”

“You will go home also?” He nods as he walked away. I noticed the smile of the sun. It must be five in the morning now.

I rapidly got up as I remembered the fruits I picked!

They were scattered now. I continuously picked the fruits when I heard steps. I briskly faced from behind thinking that it might be Akio walking back here. But I froze as saw one of that man earlier. He was smiling creepily. The fruits I picked scattered on the ground again as I run frantically. I saw him there still standing but I know I should not be contented. I need to run more far way from him. I did not even notice him approaching earlier! I groaned as I hit on someone.

“M-mikaza!” I cried like a kid as I saw Mama holding me.

“Ma!”

“W-why? Is there any wild animals you encounter there? Are you hurt?”

I shook my head multiple times. When I removed my face on my mother’s shoulder, there I saw someone smirking at me like his plan is starting smoothly.
