Shane The morning light streamed through the blinds, casting thin stripes across the room. My mother was still asleep in my bed, her body curled up under the comforter. I had slept on the couch, my body aching from the awkward position. She’d be staying with me for a few days, needing a place to recover from her fifteenth breakup. Her latest boyfriend had left her for another woman, and now she was back, her eyes swollen from crying, unloading her heartbreak onto me.
