AMBER. “I am not an attacker, I am too weak for that!” I struggled against one of the men that held me captive and just before I was able to escape him, he gave me a wild jab in the belly. Everything I ate last night flew out my belly. I retched so much that I thought my intestines were coming out with it. Rendered weak and tired, I was dragged to a place I knew was the dungeon. My dad had one of these where he tortured rogues, betrayals, and criminals. Thinking about it, I realized that I had made the dumbest mistake any rogue could. I walked into the biggest pack as a rogue. Damn it, I was as good as dead. My Alpha instinct always made me think no harm could befall me, call it pride and I would call it vanity. The next second, I heard the rattling of chains and then the pungent smell of wolfsbane spreading in the air. I was too weak to run, to hide, to beg. I wanted to. The next second, the chain wrapped around my wrist and it bit at my skin. The smell of my flesh burning added to my collection of new smells. My wrist sizzled like tuna fish. I cried sourly, my throat patchy from pain and weakness. After the man used the chain over a pulley and lifted me in the air - dangling. I felt my weight drop on me as the chain lifted causing an excruciating pain. I didn't know how heavy I was until this day, I was a skinny girl yet I had so much weight. “Stop, please,” My voice came out as a whisper, I could barely hear myself. “It hurts.” I cried regretting the first time I decided to come here. I should have stayed in the hut I built myself, all cuddled around the little firewood, getting warmth and little comfort from the blanket I knitted. “How brave of you to come here.” The man snorted at me. At the same time, I heard hard footsteps come closer to me and then an intense presence overwhelmed me. I couldn't raise my head to see the man because of the weight on me but I knew that he was Alpha. Hot sizzling breath filled the room, his anger made me groan in more pain. As a rogue, he was naturally ten times more powerful than I was. “Get me the plier, I will start with her fingers.” He growled, his eyes on me. They were like wolfsbane pills against my skin, crawling and eating at me. The mention of plier made my belly nut, chill fear crawled up my body and made me shiver. “Who sent you?” His tone was mono, hard, and they curled my belly. “No one!” I replied with all my strength, thankful my voice came out of me better this time. “So you work alone?” he asked and I shook my head - having no idea of what he was talking about. He growled at my answer, it wasn't the one that he wanted. “Please...” I begged, my voice barely a whisper. My weight was so much on me, and my legs were a wrecking pain. My back and waist began to arch so much, I sobbed like a baby. I wanted the pain gone, I wanted it all gone. I was so uncomfortable. “Do you think that you can lie to me?” His voice had a dangerous tone that added more fear to the existing one. Soon, a man arrived with a bag and dropped it on a plastic table which made a clink-clang sound. Making it obvious that there were heavy tools for torturing. The Alpha took one of the tools and came to my leg, I was going to move my legs away but I couldn't as he held my right leg firmly. The next second he started to remove my toenails. I screamed and cried. It was so loud, I could deafen an entire nation. “Shut your f*****g mouth!” The Alpha yelled and punched my belly. The pain reverberated through me and I retched again. This time all over the Alpha. Goodness! No.... Good luck, Amber, we just made him angrier. When I looked at his face, they had turned to shades of red and his eyes switched to another color. “Randy, Stuff her mouth with wolfsbane sponges, I don't want to hear anything from her anymore!” He growled at me before walking away. My body trembled with fear again and tears rolled through my eyes. Every step that was taken sent my body trembling and my heart pounding like it would jump out of my chest. Randy came back with a sponge soaked with wolfsbane and he threw it in my mouth. My lips and tongue burned, and the metallic taste of blood didn't leave my mouth. The sponge kept scorching me even when I tried resisting. The sound of my flesh burning horrified me. I couldn't scream or cry out yet I couldn't keep the pain in. “Make it stop!” I cried from my inside. Blood rolled out the side of my mouth, dripping unto the floor. The pain became so intense that I felt like I was going to die. At some point, I started to beg for death to take me instead of this. ALPHA TROY. Tristan came back into the house, he smelled of blood and burnt flesh but then his shirt was wet and he smelled. “Did you fall in the sewer?” Thompson asked, laughing while writing a cheque for one of the pack families who lost one of them. We had promised to compensate them for the main time until we found their sons. “The b***h vomited!” He growled, running up the stair with intense anger. “Maybe inviting her in for dinner would help us rather than torturing her?” I yelled out at him, teasing him. Tristan would have my head rolling if I did that. The next moment, we heard a car pack out the large compound. When I saw our mother come out of the car with our little sister, Anna, I growled. “What are they doing here?” I looked at Thompson who slapped his forehead with a sigh. “How am I supposed to know that?” He glared at me. I left the dining area and went out to Mom. When Anna saw me, she ran to me and wrapped her hands around my neck. “Brother!” She uttered excitedly. “We are not staying long.” Mom rested her back against her car, looking pissed. I disengaged from Anna, looking at my mom and wondering why her face looked pale. “The elders are fixing a party next week, you are required to come with your mate, or your position as Alpha would be questioned.” Mom frowned deeply. Thompson came out as well looking lazy and tired. The both of us hadn't slept because of pack work. “They added that the pack was attacked because you three haven't gotten your mate yet.” Anna chipped in beside me. “Well, we...” Thompson was going to utter the words that I know very well but I shot him a glare and he kept shut. “We’ll bring her to the next meeting,” I assured, holding Anna’s hand. Mom nodded before going back in her car, Anna waved us bye and proceeded into the car as well. “And tell Tristan I saw the ram head he sent to me for Christmas, real nice of him!” She whined before shutting the door and I laugh. Tristan could be scary sometimes, I could attest to that. “I sent it to her.” Thompson cackled behind me, I shook my head. I was now convinced that I was her only decent brother. Getting back to the dining room where numerous work was still waiting for us, Thompson asked how we were going to solve our mate issue. “You and I know the truth.” He looked me in the eyes while I yawned. “But they don't. We would find something but first, let's get all this work done.” I took out another bundle of files, groaning. At the same time, Tristan came back down in another shirt, his face grimacing and covered in red marks from too much boning. “We should tell Mom and the elders the truth, we can not hide it forever,” he uttered, walking out the front door and I rolled my eyes. We cannot tell them the truth, not now.
