“I miss you, mama, when are you coming home.” Lily’s soft voice echoed from the other end of the line.
My heart fluttered. “I just got here baby, but I’ll be back soon.” I hated being away from my girls but this was something I needed to do.
Lily grunted. “Okay mama, can Akira and I come with you next time?” She asked. Lily and Akira were upset when I was leaving, they wanted to follow me to New York. But I couldn’t allow them to follow me.
I shook my head. “I don’t think there will be a next time.”
Lily frowned. “Is it because of our dead daddy?” She asked.
I froze, her question caught me off guard. “You know what? I’ll bring you and your sister to New York if that’s what you want.”
