The evening came to an end, Austin kindly offered to drive me back to my apartment. I accepted his offer, appreciating the thoughtfulness that seemed to come naturally to him. The car ride was filled with a comfortable silence, the air between us carrying a sense of contentment.
When we reached my apartment building, we both stepped out of the car. I turned to face him, my heart suddenly pounding with a mixture of emotions. It was as if an invisible force was drawing us closer, and before I could think, I leaned in and placed a soft, quick kiss on Austin's cheek.
He looked momentarily stunned, his eyes widening in surprise. I, too, was taken aback by my own actions. Heat crept up my cheeks, and I stammered, "I-I'm sorry, Austin. I don't know what came over me."
