Chapter 11 I left Cape May Monday afternoon feeling even more stressed out than I had been before I went there. Between the drama with Paul and the blowout with my father and Carmen, I was on the verge of turning into a basket case. I hadn’t seen or spoken with Carmen or my father since Sunday morning. During my drive back to Philadelphia, I was planning to swing by my father’s house to return the set of beach house keys he’d given me, but changed my mind because I was afraid I might run into him and I wasn’t in the mood to handle another showdown with Douglas Townsend.
