JOAQUIN My sister was back in my father’s home country. I’d kept in touch with my father and explained how we were attacked. The conversation didn’t go well, and he wondered if I needed to come back and start my business over. But I never ran from a fight. I sat on the back patio of our second home in thought, smoking on a cigarette to clear my head. Emile had made the first move on my territory, and then he blew up my home to bring me to my knees to sell a piece of what we had. Fuertes never got intimidated. When I killed my enemies, I went for the last bloodline. Our tech guy sent Odessa’s address, and I made plans to visit her today. “How long have you been out here?” Sofia asked. I felt her warm hands massage my shoulders. “An hour.” “Are you coming to bed?” “Not anytime soon.”
