The trip up north took seven hours, and Mike reached Fort Mac, a little town just outside the oil sands. It was a high traffic area for truckers and riggers. The town was lined with motels and strip bars to house and entertain the Teamsters and oil riggers. Most men up there were far from home for months on end. Singles and divorcees, and those who were married were often cheaters. The town had a bad reputation, and so did the oil camps around it.
