The Alpha's Lost Mate

Declan's P.O.V.

Standing guard outside the future Luna's door gives me a sense of duty, to protect her with my very life. But, standing here all alone, with all of these sexy nurses walking around, is making me go bonkers. I need a good lay while we're here. But my alpha gave me a mission, and I intend to complete it with everything in me. I open the door to check on Luna every 30 minutes, sleeping soundly. I really need to piss. But I was told to watch her like a hawk, f**k this bladder of mine. The bathroom is down the hall, it won't take me but 5 minutes to relieve myself and make it back to my post. 

I jog off to the guest bathroom and shut the door. I finished up what needed done, washed my hands and left.  Walking back to the Luna's room, I see James standing there with his arms crossed. Son of a b**ch.

"What part of 'watch her like a hawk' did you not fathom??!" I peek around him to see Raleigh safe in her bed. I breathe a sigh of sweet relief, I would never forgive myself if something happened to her.

"I'm sorry, I had to piss." I bow my head in shame. 

"Now that it's morning you and I have a few hours until the meeting. Do you want to get some food? She needs to eat and I can't stand the current company in the dining hall."

"Yeah sounds good!"

James heads in to wake the Luna. I hear their conversation.

"How did you sleep, love?"

"Good. Despite the pain from all these beatings" that statement made my blood boil. If there's one thing I am against, it's the mistreatment of females. I may sleep around a lot with multiple females, but I will never put a hand on one. My mother would skin me alive and my sister would help. I shudder at the thought of that. 

Lost in my nightmare of being skinned alive, I hear James, "alright hawk man lets roll."

I follow my alpha and future luna out to the car parked right where I left it. I open the door for them and close it as soon as they get situated. 

"Alpha, I noticed a cozy diner on the way in yesterday, would you like that?"

James looks over at his mate, "Well darling, what would you like to eat?" 

Sheepishly, she replies "I've never left the pack house, I don't know what I like..." her voice trails off as I drive us out of the gate. 

These monsters not only beat the poor thing but practically starved her. One look at her petite frame and you can tell she was severely malnourished. The longer we stay here, the more I want to rip their heads off one by one. I can only imagine what James feels being mated to this lovely soul. I will definitely say she is beautiful and James is one lucky SOB. 

I am counting down to when I will be blessed with a mate of my own, until then, I will continue to be the lovable stud that every she wolf drools over.

Damien's P.O.V.

I sit up in my office, sulking. Watching from the window, I see the little witch walk with Alpha James and his foolish Beta to their car. Wondering where they're taking her. I hear a knock at the door, I turn to see who dares bother me now after everything I've ever wanted gets into another Alpha's car. Stupid little slut. 

Tearing me from my thoughts, I see my Beta Devon and his mate Emileigh come in. 

"You should have let me finish that worthless wretch off Alpha," begins Em. "Then you wouldn't have to watch her be with another male."

"No. They'll get what's coming to them, all in due time. They have to come back, the meeting is this afternoon. He has no choice but to leave her in his room alone. Unguarded by that stupid Beta of his."

Devon pipes up, "Honestly man, what do you see in her? She's useless."

I turn to face him, glaring into his soul, "I'm going to take what's mine. I swear to the goddess I will."

Devon and Em just look at each other. "Em, the meeting will begin at 1 pm. When she's alone, go to her room and give her a going away present, be sure to let her know who it's from, just don't kill her. I will need her later on." 

"I'd be happy to oblige, Alpha." 

This girl will wish she was never born. She will regret the day she rejected me. 

Raleigh's P.O.V. 

We drove for about 10 minutes, the entire drive I was taking in the scenery. I had never left the pack house since I came to this pack. This was a new experience for me. As I looked out the window, I felt a set of eyes on me, I turn to James, who is lovingly watching my excitement. 

"Your beauty, I cannot fathom it. How did I get so lucky?" I feel myself blush at his statement. I never thought I'd get away from Damien's grip. I can't help but get a feeling in my stomach. Not sure if it's hunger, or something else. 

We finally pull up to the diner, my door opens thanks to Beta Declan. I step out and wait for James who wraps his arm around my waist his hand resting in the small of my back. I just met him yesterday, and I feel so close to him and so protected.

"Raleigh," James calls my name to snap me out of my thought.

"uh yes. Sorry, I got lost in thought." 

"No need to apologize, love" James reassures me. "what do you like?"

Looking down at my menu, "I-I'm not sure... I was barely permitted breakfast.." I confess to him and Declan. Looking ashamed, I hear Declan "Hey that's ok Raleigh, some times mr big bag wolf over here makes me skip breakfast too." He gives me a cheesy grin and I feel better about not knowing. 

James defends himself "Dec, the only time I make you skip breakfast is when you're late for morning drills. Which is becoming a very bad habit"

I giggle at their little argument. "Your smile is so beautiful, Raleigh. It could melt the ice on top of the mountains. I wish I saw it more often. You deserve happiness."

This man knows how to talk. I wonder how many in his pack have thrown themselves at him over the years. It makes me feel very scared to start my life with him not knowing what my new life will be like. Will his family accept me as one of them? Will the pack reject me as Luna? Am I made out to be Luna? I know nothing about running a pack let alone one with over 1,000 members. 

"Okay, I will order 1 of everything and we'll just see what you like. How does that sound?"

"Perfect." I say with a smile on my face. 

James' P.O.V. 

As we eat breakfast, I can't help but get past the fact that she is the lone survivor of that horrible fire. Rumors in the supernatural world have been circling for the last 6 years that they couldn't find the last body of the Alpha family but they always assumed it was the boy that was missing, Renegade. And that the fire was no accident, someone had to be responsible for all those lives lost. 

To know that Raleigh, the daughter of the Alpha survived, changes everything. My only reasoning for this pack from hell to treat her so bad is that they don't realize who she actually is. They must think she was some rogue wolf, roaming around the woods of their territory. 

As we finish breakfast, we realize the time and I still need to prepare for this damn meeting. 

"Alright you two, are we ready to get back?" I ask. They look up from their plates, looking completely stuffed even though Raleigh barely ate but a few bites. Can't blame her honestly, being practically starved for 6 years can take its toll on the body.

"Ready boss" Declan finally speaks up

I roll my eyes at him as Raleigh stifles a laugh. We get up, I pay for our meal and we head to the car. On the way back, she fell asleep on my shoulder and I can't help but stare at how innocent she is. How perfect. 

Finally arriving back an hour before the meeting was set to start, Beta Devon approached us and informed us that the meeting will be beginning in 10 minutes. Before walking off he glared at Raleigh making her shrink into my side for protection. 

"You ok, baby?" I ask her looking her in her eyes, I can see fearful tears beginning to form.

As the first tear began to fall, I led her up to my room and told her "make yourself comfortable, rest if you're still tired hopefully this meeting won't take too long and as soon as we're done, I'm getting you out of this horrible place. I promise you to always protect you." Before I leave the room I kiss her sweetly on her forehead and join Declan for the dreaded meeting.

Emileigh's P.O.V.

Hiding in Damien's office across the hall from Alpha James' suite I peek out and see him and his Beta walk down the stairs. Now's my chance, I'm going to beat this little cunt stupid for disrespecting the Alpha Damien. 

I knock on the door, she timidly opens up, seeing that it's me she quickly tries to shut it in my face, I put my hand up to catch it before she could close and lock it. "Tsk, tsk...I thought you had more manners than to slam a door in my face. I guess it's time for another lesson."

She backs up slowly, tripping over her own feet. Finally, she falls to the floor, putting her hands up she begs for mercy. "You are so lucky he doesn't want you dead. I wouldn't hesitate to snuff your little useless light out." 

"P-please, leave..." she begs over and over. "James will be back any time he'll kill you if he knew what you're doing..."

"Do you honestly think I give a s**t what that weak excuse for an Alpha will do or say?" At this point I get down in her face, to make my message clear before knocking the snot out of her, "This is from Alpha Damien Moon, he will have you whether you like it or not."

I grab her by the hair, bring my fist back, and hit her as hard as I can. Over and over until she is a bloody mess. Suddenly, I hear voices in the hall outside the door, s**t, I run out on the balcony and climb over to the next balcony which happens to be my mates office. I sit in the chair and wait for the yelling to start. The meeting must be over by now, good timing Em, I congratulate myself. 

"OH MY GOD! RALEIGH!! WAKE UP!"

And the fun begins, I smirk to myself. 

James' P.O.V.

Damn this meeting, I was dreading it before I met my beloved, now even more because it meant I'd be away from her, and that killed me.

As Declan and I sit in our chairs, Damien begins the meeting. "Now that Alpha James and Beta Declan have finally joined us, we can begin." He stares at us trying to intimidate us, I stand my ground and speak up, 

"We would have been on time had you not moved the time of the meeting Alpha Damien. As far as we knew, it was set to start at 1 pm. Not 12."  

"Ok gentlemen, that's enough." Elder Josiah spoke up breaking up our tiff. Oh how I wanted to leap across this table and destroy this piece of trash. 

"Now, we are all gathered here under to pacts formally signed 5 years ago to keep peace between packs. You alphas will all now vote who wishes to keep the peace with the Night Walker pack. As I go around this table indicate yay or nay. Let's start with Alpha Rufus of the Desert Storm pack and end with Alpha James of the Midnight Moon pack. Alpha Rufus, please state your vote."

"Yay."

As the elder went around the table of Alphas, about half were for reneging their peace treaties with Damien. Finally, it was my turn. I was the balance between the votes. "Nay." I said coldly.

"Well, looks like we have 11 nay and 10 yay. All those for nay, please step out,,," 

"Excuse me Elder," I stand up "please, I have something that needs to come to light."

"Alpha James, I think this is hardly the time for speeches or arguments." the elder begins. 

"Um you're gonna want to hear this Sir." Declan speaks up on my behalf and I acknowledge his assistance. 

"As many of you have probably heard, I have found my mate while here for this convention, however, she has a very dark past that I feel needs to come to light. In front of you all." I pause, waiting to see that I have everyone's attention. "For the last 6 years, since her pack, the Shadow Moon pack, was wiped out in the fire, she got picked up as a supposed rogue wolf, and forced into slavery by Alpha Damien at a mere 12 years of age. Severely beaten, starved, and forced to live in the basement of this very mansion. As many of you know, authorities were only able to locate 3 of the Alpha family's remains. It was always thought that the boy, Renegade had survived and the girl, Raleigh, perished with Raul and Regina. However, coming here this weekend, I discovered that the moon goddess had bestowed upon me the greatest gift. An alpha heiress as my mate." I pause to gain reactions from the other alphas in the meeting.

"Do you have solid proof, Alpha James? Where is this girl?" 

"My suite, waiting on me to take her away." I reply, "Let me go fetch her."

"No need to we'll all go and get her side of the story Alpha." Damien piped up all to eager to find Raleigh. 

"Sigh, Very well alphas this meeting is not adjourned, I guess we're going on a field trip."

We all walk up the stairs to the 2nd floor of the mansion, as we get to the top of the stairs, I can see my door slightly cracked, odd I thought I told her to lock that. 

I step in the room to see Raleigh laying in a pool of blood, unconscious on the floor.

"OH MY GOD! RALEIGH!! WAKE UP!" I run over to her, kneel down and cradle her in my arms, "Declan! Go get the doc!" I scream.

Declan pushes past the others to get Dr. Garcia. Seeing the scene before them, the other alphas and Elder Josiah wander back to the conference room to finalize the vote and adjourn the meeting so we can all leave.

"Well, I guess you couldn't protect her after all Alpha, I told you to stay away from what is mine." Damien sneers at me and stalks off after the others. 

"Raleigh, baby open your eyes..." she stirs in my arms I breathe a sigh of relief thanking goddess that she isn't gone. Just badly beaten. 

"J-James....." she says almost too faint to hear.

"Shh baby, save your strength, the doc is on his way please stay with me. I'm so sorry. I swear I will kill whoever did this to you." my anger builds up inside me I can hear Bruno howling.

Just as fast as before, Doc walks in "Oh my, this poor girl. Ok, let me in here, I need to assess the damage."

I lay her body down on the floor so doc can see the damage done. After what seemed like hours, he was done. 

"She'll be ok, just some cuts and a broken nose. She's more traumatized than anything, her body went into shock, I gave her some medication to help her relax and get some sleep. Will you be leaving today?"

"Yes, we are as soon as I finish this damn meeting. Will you stay with her until I return?"

"Of course Alpha."

"Also, please forward all scans and health records to my pack doctor, Dr. Abrams. Thank you." Dr. Garcia nods his head to me as I walk past. 

I go to walk out the door, "Dec, pack our things and get them in the car, once I finish this meeting, we're leaving. I can't stand this pack."

"Of course."

I storm out and towards the stairs, I see a familiar face standing in the door of the office next to my suite.

"All that fuss over one little slave. Is she really worth it, James?" I growl as I storm past her.

Down in the conference room conversation is buzzing. 

"Ah, good of you to finally join us,"

"Let's finish this."

"Ok, now the vote is done, all of those who voted nay may go, those of you who voted yay stay so you can draw up new peace treaties with the Night Walkers. Meeting adjourned!"

I leave the room as fast as I get in there, running up to fetch Raleigh. I see Declan taking the bags out to the car and waiting for me and Raleigh. 

I run into the room and scoop the poor thing up in my arms like she weighs nothing at all. Goddess, she is so tiny, why did she have to go through this. 

I walk down the stairs with her in my arms as the other alphas are coming out of the meeting. The looks and whispers would normally grab my attention, but I was so pissed I had tunnel vision. 

As I get to the car, I hear Damien yelling. I hand Raleigh to Declan to put in the car, I turn to see what else this piece of s**t has to say. 

"You can't take what's mine James! I will get her back and when I do, I'm going to kill her, then you!!"

That's it, my self control is done. I'm gonna knock his lights out in front of everyone here. I don't care. 

I stalk over to him, we're now standing between the steps of the mansion and the car, I get up to where I can sucker punch him. I draw my arm back as far as it will allow, and I hit him with everything in me. Turning on my heel, I say to Declan "Let's go home."

As I get into the back with a still unconscious Raleigh, I can hear Dec, "That was so f**king awesome!" 

I sigh as we drive off. I hope I never have to see that s**t head again, and I'm happy I can get her away from that, to start our lives together.
