Douglas struggled to prepare something for both he and his aunt. What could he say, he was hopeless when it came to cooking. He tried focusing on the pot of hot soup that he was preparing, a recipe he got from some cooking website and he hoped that it worked out.

He was tired; his mind was occupied with the conversation that he had overheard. He hated listening to people gossip but he could not help himself, they were taking about Scarlet. He heard them talking about Scarlet’s grandmother being taken to the hospital in a hurry and Douglas truly worried that this time, the poor woman might not make it.
He wondered if he should visit Scarlet and her grandmother at the hospital but then he remembered that both he and Scarlet were not on speaking terms, it was probably not smart for him
