Episode 1 : The Cookout

Autumn

"How's my grandbaby doing today" Mrs. Vera Josh's mother asked over the phone.

"Okay just had me very sick this morning" I replied walking into my house.

"Awww have you spoken to my son yet"?

I blew off before replying "yea he finally called me this morning".

"I'm trying to tell you Autumn my son is listening to that little girlfriend of his me and his father are trying to talk some sense into him, but he's stubborn".

"I just hope this baby don't take after him with that".

"Me too listen you still coming to our cookout tomorrow right? I wanna show off that belly you sent me last night". She said laughing.

"Yea I'm still coming I may bring my mom and cousin if that's okay"?

"Yea it's fine I want to meet your mom anyway".

After hanging up the phone with Josh's mom I went into my bedroom and sat my school stuff down and was getting ready to rub my belly down when my mom walks in my room. "How was school"? She asked me sitting beside me on the bed.

"Okay I finally told my teachers I'm pregnant".

"You know I was every upset about you getting pregnant, but I see my daughter again I don't see that wild child that had me up all time of night. This baby really is changing you, your taking school seriously now and your just doing better with your life, and that I'm proud of".

"Yea reality did hit me kinda hard ma I'm not going to lie I still don't know if I'm ready to be this little baby's mother, but I guess I have no choice because he or she is coming".

"What about the father what's the status on that"? I blew off when she asked me that because I hated to tell my mother my baby father problems.

"He called finally this morning, and didn't see nothing wrong with his actions, but I just got off the phone with his mom and she invited us to a cookout. She wants to also talk to you there".

"When because I need to talk to her also about her son"?

"Tomorrow I'm going there after work so maybe five and can you make your famous chicken salad please I don't wanna go empty handed".

"Okay I will and I get off around two tomorrow so I should be home in time, and I hope that boy is there also I want to talk to him as well".

Josh

"Your mother is going to love me I know it" Danisha said as we drove to my parents house for the cookout she was throwing. I was trying to go to the cookout by myself especially after my mom told me Autumn was going to be there. I have yet to tell Danisha because she was so hype about me letting her come. The closer I got to the house the more nervous I was for when she saw Autumn.

When we arrived my dad was out front with his friends. "Wassup pop" I said getting out the car. He looked at me and then to Danisha who was getting out the passenger side "son" and then nodded his head in the direction of Danisha. I shrugged and the closer I got to him he replied "you do know your baby momma is here along with her mom and cousin right"?

I nodded and then Danisha walks up "hello I'm josh's girl Danisha you must be his father".

"Yea I am it's nice to meet you, we have plenty of food help yourself okay"?

"Oh I already ate but thank you" my dad looked at me and then back to Danisha.

"You came to a cookout and you already ate"? He started laughing along with his friends.

I grabbed Danisha's hand and walked her away from my dad and his friends to go into the house.

Walking into the house and going to the backyard as soon as we walked on the grass all eyes were on us. That's when I noticed Autumn and her mom and cousin standing with my momma who was shaking her head at me.

"What is she doing here Josh"? Danisha said to me.

"My mom invited her Danisha relax don't make a scene" I said looking back at Autumn who was looking at me and I must say she was looking fine in that yellow jumpsuit that hugged to her body and showed the little stomach the baby was now making. Seem like we were looking at each other for a second before Danisha stepped in front of me getting my attention.

"Your mom is making her way over how do I look"?

"Fine just relax and be yourself my mom don't like no fake s**t".

Before my mom got to me completely she waved for Autumn to come over as well and right then I knew this was going to end good.

"Son who's this"? She asked looking at Danisha like she didn't already know who Danisha was even though they hadn't met.

"My girlfriend Danisha". I said trying not to look at Autumn because I didn't want to start nothing between Danisha.

"Hello ma'am" Danisha said, but in her mind I know she was wondering why my mom had Autumn along with her.

"Josh you not going to speak to your child's mother who you haven't seen in what a month Autumn"?

"Ma really we just talked on the phone this morning"?

Danisha added "yea he just talked to her whatever she said to you ma'am she's lying".

Autumn started to talk, but my mom stopped her and said what she had to say. "Talking over the phone is different than seeing in person, do you see this belly this is your f*****g baby growing in this girl. Have you touched her belly this baby needs to feel your touch Josh and missy no one was talking to you" she grabbed my hand from Danisha's and placed it on Autumn's stomach.

I smiled and my mom started smiling along with Autumn "see you need to make a connection with your baby before it even gets here Josh". I was so in the moment with feeling Autumn's belly that I didn't see Danisha stepping back in the crowd staring looking mad.

"I can't believe you did that"?

"What are you talking about"? I asked in line with Danisha making my plate.

"Touch her belly in front of me" she said with a attitude.

"Yo do you not hear yourself that's my kid in there I can touch her belly if I feel like it damn please don't piss me off in front of my family".

"She just f****d up my chances to get to know your mom Josh that's why I'm upset".

"Well you need to get over it Danisha because she's having my baby" she storms off after I said that.

Autumn

I slipped away from the cookout because I had to pee and found myself walking around the house looking at all the pictures of Josh and his siblings when they were babies.

"You think the baby is going to look like me"?

I jumped and turned around seeing Josh standing there before me with a plate in his hands. Looking down at the picture and back up at him I replied,

"I hope not I want this baby to look like me". I said with a grin.

"What you mean I look good s**t" I rolled my eyes and shook my head.

"I apologize for Danisha saying your a liar. She didn't know you was going to be here so..."

"She has to accept the fact that this baby in my belly is yours and it's not going away". He nods and I continued "trust me I'm not trying to break up no relationship at all, but she can't keep coming for me the way she do".

"Autumn listen I hear you alright I'll talk to her" he places the plate down on a small table in the hallway before walking over to me.

"Can I touch your belly again please"?

I sigh and nod this time he grabbed my hand and pulled me into the bathroom.

"Lift your dress I wanna see your stomch this time".

"What"? I said shocked.

"Look ain't s**t I haven't seen before come on s**t".

I lift my dress and my stomach and panties were exposed. He looked at me before putting his hands on my belly and said.

"I see you getting thick, where is it"?

I placed his hands on the right side of my belly "right there"?

Once he felt the baby he moved his hands "s**t that's f*****g weird, but that's my little man" he said sounding happy standing up.

I pulled my dress down and grinned "so you think it's a boy"?

"I know it's a boy" he said with confidence.

"We'll see I guess" he reached in his pocket and pulled out some money.

"Take this and go shopping for the baby" I grabbed the money.

"I know I gotta do more and I'm going to be better I promise" he said getting close I held my hands out because he was getting to close.

"Josh what are you doing"?

He just kissed me and did I stop him no I didn't if my cousin didn't open the bathroom door I think something probably would've went down in the bathroom. All she said was "umm hmmm I knew it".
