IZABELLA It took time to work up the courage to do this, but after contemplating it for hours in the silence of my room, I decided to visit my father today. Alone. Well, not totally alone. As usual, I had guards trail me to the hospital, and when we got there, they took their places in their allotted positions. Two guards were stationed by the entrance of the building, another at the entrance of my father’s floor, and one more by his suite door when I walked in. The steady beeping of the many machines hooked up to him greeted me as I shut the door behind me, a little jarring against the relative silence of the room.
